Reaches in to the depths of your soul maneuvering mother/daughter relationships. Unputdownable
Revisado: 11-06-23
This book has all the feels. It’s a coming of age story about life struggles and maneuvering difficult relationships. I absolutely loved the main characters. The mother in the novel is a true life Cruella de Vil! It’s
wonderful to take the journey with Kenna and Rachel to the other side of love, respect, growing up and letting go. The author has a way of painting a scene so vivid that you not only feel like you are there but you can paint your own picture. It has everything you hope for in a novel. I want to talk more about this amazing book but don’t want to spoil it!

Smart, determined, and beautiful; college student and art model Nell seemed to be the girl who had it all. A passionate relationship with one of the art students leads to an unplanned pregnancy that threatens to change everything, though, and she must build a very different life than she envisioned.

I couldn’t put it down!
Revisado: 04-28-21
I experienced every single emotion reading this book which doesn't often happen. The story begins as young innocent , sweet love with so much hope and promise of tomorrow. It sheds light on derailments that happen in life and utter heartbreak that is not only read in words on a page but is felt in every fiber of your being as you turn the pages. This is a story of great love, single motherhood, visceral heartbreak and triumph on the other side of what no person should have to survive.
The author has a gift of bringing characters to life and dropping breadcrumbs throughout the story that have you wanting to read more. Highly recommend this 5 star page turner!

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

Fabulous Read!
Revisado: 08-10-18
This book should be required high school reading! It is a true to life, real world, first hand experience of what it is like to be black in America in this day and age. This book opened my already open eyes even further.
Fantastic writer that wrote an incredibly sad story about a good hardworking family and their struggles. The details are so incredible you will feel like you are there in the story. I hope Angie Thomas writes more!
