Historia
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

Was this written by a horny teenager?
Revisado: 04-11-22
Clues: (1) The narration is a bit dramatic insofar as the accentuated R’s and weirdly flourished words. (2) The main character is perfectly socratic—the kind of arrogant that earmarks a gamer bent on impressing you by his childhood DnD character’s awesomeness; (3) women fall over themselves and the main guy is just such a ladies man.
I quit listening leas than halfway through.

Wasn't 100% then realized I had to finish!
Revisado: 02-10-21
#1 - The narration is superb. The story was odd and slow to me at first (I mainly read a different genre of fiction). However, after a while, I realized that I was in--intrigued and involved. The author had roped me in, and I didn't even realize it. It made this aside from my normal genre a really fun and rewarding experience. I'll be buying her second book in this series!

Historia
James Crowley met his mortal end in a hail of gunfire. Now, he finds himself in purgatory, serving the White Throne to avoid falling to hell. Not quite undead, though not alive either, the best he can hope for is to work off his servitude and fade away. His not-so-sacred duty as a Hand of God? Use his new abilities to hunt down demonic beings that have infiltrated the mortal realm. This time, the White Throne has sent him to the middle of nowhere: a Western town called Dead Acre with a saloon, a moldy church, and little else worth talking about. There isn’t even a sheriff.

This was a fun short story. I loved the mixture of old west and fantasy without the need to make it steampunk. If there's more to the story, I'm in!

Historia
By the divine promise of sacrifice, he awakened an Ash Angel with a new body, new powers, and a new war to fight. Cassandra, his temperamental trainer, tries to get him ready to battle Ghostpackers and Dreads, but it might be too little too late: for the first time in history, the Ash Angels are faltering against the fury of an evil more ancient than they are. While he fights to survive run-ins with a Sheid-hunted pop star and a gorgeous but dangerous Dread, Trace realizes his new life cannot erase the trauma of the old.

Really enjoyed the unique take on the afterlife
Revisado: 02-10-21
This book is fresh. The fantasy world of Fuller is unlike any I've ever read, and it felt cohesive without leaving weird gaps everywhere. It felt like old-school Brandon Sanders. I am onboard for the next book in the series already. the only reason I didn't max out the stars was two reasons, but I can't really talk about both without spoilers. The narration felt stiff at times. And I wish the conversation with the wife at the end hadn't been included. That was a cliffhanger and not really a welcome one. It makes me think the next story will dive into that arena, and quite honestly, I dont want to go there. So, it's either really good writing that made me feel things, or needlessly turning character arcs into character circles.

Historia
The battle of the dead was won, but at a great cost. Sion, leader of the Mist Village, was left with only pain and regret as Richter was claimed by the abyss. What no one but the abandoned chaos seed knows is that he narrowly avoided the curse of the lich Singh, a curse that still hangs above his head. Now, surrounded by miles of darkness and tons of crushing rock, Richter has to find his way back into the light.

Only read if you like hours upon hours of ...
Revisado: 02-10-21
... stats being narrated in exhaustive detail. For one segment of the book, I literally measured the amount of actual story progression compared to the stat recital. Aleron Kong has learned that he can "write" a book basically by filling pages with Richtor's stats and the Land's responses to Richtor fiddling around with them. It was truly awful. At one point in the book, there is zero meaningful story progression for over 3 hours.
Nick Podehl does his best, but listening to this book was like listening to someone read the NASDAQ stock ticker at the bottom of MSNBC.

Did Jim Butcher write this?
Revisado: 01-14-21
Who is Harry Dresden anymore? Is he just trying to be a dad? Is he a warden? Is he the sometimes down-and-out do-gooder-have staff will kick ass wizard of Chicago? Is he Lara Raith's bitch now? McCoy's enemy? He is all of those things and hollow as a result.
The writing in this book do not resemble Books 1-15.

Historia
Lynx is a mercenary with a sense of honour - a dying breed in the Riven Kingdom. Failed by the nation he served and weary of the skirmishes that plague the continent's principalities, he walks the land in search of purpose. He wants for little, so bodyguard work keeps his belly full and his mage-gun loaded. It might never bring a man fame or wealth, but he's not forced to rely on others or kill without cause. Little could compel Lynx to join a mercenary company, but he won't turn his back on a kidnapped girl.

Lame story, good telling makes me mad
Revisado: 01-11-20
This author obviously can tell a story--all the signs are there; but, this book is almost as entertaining as C-SPAN. I just couldn't get into the story. I'm going to try to return the book.

Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

I should have gone to bed, but this original kept me too intrigued to sleep! The narrator is good, though by the end of the book, he adds on a strange accent to the performance where before his inflection never wavered.

Historia
In a narrative as beguiling and mysterious as memory itself - shadowed and luminous at once - we follow the story of 14-year-old Nathaniel, and his older sister, Rachel. In 1945, just after World War II, they stay behind in London when their parents move to Singapore, leaving them in the care of a mysterious figure named The Moth. They suspect he might be a criminal, and they grow both more convinced and less concerned as they come to know his eccentric crew of friends: men and women joined by a shared history of unspecified service during the war.

Stagnant and Uninteresting After 1 Hour
Revisado: 09-04-18
This book delivers no intrigue beyond the first hour. It meanders around some central characters but the main character (Nathaniel) seems to hold nothing in any special significance nor does the story provide potential for growth in the main or supporting characters. I listened for 3 hours, but after the first hour, the story becomes stagnant. I finally gave up after the story became one trivial recollection after another by Nathaniel.

Historia
An all-new Dresden Files story headlines this urban fantasy short story collection starring the Windy City's favorite wizard. From the Wild West to the bleachers at Wrigley Field, humans, zombies, incubi, and even fey royalty appear, ready to blur the line between friend and foe. In the never-before-published "Zoo Day", Harry treads new ground as a dad, while fan-favorite characters Molly Carpenter, his onetime apprentice, White Council Warden Anastasia Luccio, and even Bigfoot stalk through the pages of more classic tales.

Enjoyable For Faithful Followers
Revisado: 06-14-18
I'm not a big fan of mixed narrators. Some of the stories were so-so in their entertainment value, but as a whole the short stories are good and give every reader a little more insight into the various characters of the Dresden-verse.
