Historia
Late on a frozen February evening, a young woman is running through the streets of London. Having fled from her abusive boyfriend and with nowhere to go, Jess stumbles onto a forgotten lane where a small, clearly unlived in old house offers her best chance of shelter for the night. The next morning, a mysterious letter arrives and when she can't help but open it, she finds herself drawn inexorably into the story of two lovers from another time.

My new favorite book and narrator
Revisado: 04-02-23
This book was written with skill and layered with emotion. The characters were so genuine and so real, the losses and wins went straight to my own heart for each of them.
Well done!
The narrator was so good- I’ve never heard better- I searched out other narrations by her and will listen to those next.
It’s exciting to have a new favorite.

Historia
Imagine if you made one little mistake when you were young and were punished for it for the rest of your life. Well, that’s what happened to Lydia (yes, that Lydia, the youngest Bennet sister from Pride and Prejudice), and she’s here to set the record straight. Hold on to your teacups and get ready for sophisticated (and a little bit naughty) hot takes and witty banter that’ll make you laugh—and think. We meet Lydia just as she is denounced by her family, exiled miles from home, and married to the rogue George Wickham, who seems to love all women...except his own wife.

Mrs. Hauck’s best book yet.
I loved the story and the theme. The characters sparkled, including the “bad one” who caused so much trouble.
Wonderful ending and the narration was brilliant. I listen to audio books almost daily and Louise Lee was stellar.
Definitely recommend!

The author obviously researched well. It was fun to hear a story in a setting that I know and I’ve been outside the Sorrento which is now a hotel. I was curious about it and I now I know more.
I look forward to what this author is going to do next.

Novel ever written. We are all Angel. Or Paul. And we all need a Michael who shows us Jesus. We can be an Altman to someone and we can all humble ourselves to give and receive the love the heals us.
And that’s why this novel is so relatable and relevant and so beautiful.
