This book was enjoyable up until the point it just ended right in the middle of the story. How in the world can Amazon sell this as a book? At best it is half of a book

“Why is this town called Mother’s Rest?” That’s all Reacher wants to know. But no one will tell him. It’s a tiny place hidden in a thousand square miles of wheat fields, with a railroad stop, and sullen and watchful people, and a worried woman named Michelle Chang, who mistakes him for someone else: her missing partner in a private investigation she thinks must have started small and then turned lethal.

Not an exciting story at all.
Revisado: 03-07-24
The endings to the last two books in the series were not up to the typical Reacher standards, and this time the book was subpar from beginning to end. Reacher is one of my all-time favorite characters, and I sure hope the next book in the series rights the ship.

This author is terrible!
Revisado: 04-10-23
The author does a good job of linking the books in the series together by ending each book on a "cliffhanger." However, the books keep getting worse and after enduring the first 4 books in the series I don't think I can take listening to another one of this author's books. Why?
The author makes the lead character seem incompetent most of the time, even though Agent Zero is considered the "best CIA Operative."
The plots are very weak, have huge holes in them, and overall are not believable or plausible.
The author's grammar and writing are terrible. He desperately needs a good editor.
The author goes WAY overboard with his use of cheesy smilies that often don't even fit his narrative.
I could continue, but my point is the qualify of the writing is frustratingly bad.
I REALLY want to like this series, and I think I have given it a fair chance by purchasing and listening to the first 4 books in the series. With each successive book I kept hoping the author would improve. Not only did that not happen, but the author got worse over time.
One positive was the change in narrators with this book. The original narrator made Agent Zero sound like an incompetent wimp, while the new narrator gives Agent Zero a little more backbone.
Despite that change, the time has come for me to say goodbye Agent Zero.

This book's first half was great, but then...
Revisado: 12-20-22
...during the second half of the book the author went off the rails with the storyline. The plot went from being excellently thought out, to annoyingly far-fetched and repetitive.
The first half of the book was very enjoyable and it definitely hooked me. In fact, I told my girlfriend I was so glad I found this series because I was liking it so much.
But as the book continued towards its climax, it became more and more difficult to listen to. There was so much promise, but in the end it left me feeling tremendously disappointed. So much so that now I can't see myself listening to another Agent Zero book. Bummer.
One big positive was the narrator...he did an excellent job! In fact, it was his storytelling that enabled me to finish the book. Kudos to him.

Good story & excellent narration if played at 1.2x
Revisado: 12-14-22
The story was a bit slow at times, but it kept my attention and was enjoyable overall. I have to say I really enjoyed the narration after I set it to play at 1.2x speed. At normal speed the narration was painfully slow, but when sped up it sounded completely natural and was surprisingly pleasant and engaging.

Flynn's best book so far in the Mitch Rapp series.
Revisado: 05-16-22
I've enjoyed every book in the Mitch Rapp series so far, and with this book Flynn elevates his writing to the next level. He greatly increased the depth of his characters and also seamlessly wove multiple storylines together to create a multi-dimensional and captivating plot that kept me turning the pages. It's definitely my favorite books so far in the series.

Historia
For months, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of men, bullet by bullet. With each kill, the tangled network of monsters responsible for the slaughter of 270 civilians becomes increasingly clear. He is given his next target: a plump Libyan diplomat who is prone to drink and is currently in Paris without a single bodyguard. Rapp finds him completely unprotected and asleep in his bed. With confidence in his well-honed skills and conviction of the man’s guilt, he easily sends a bullet into the man’s skull. But in the split second it takes the bullet to leave the silenced pistol, everything changes.

Very detailed story, but a LOT less exciting.
Revisado: 04-24-22
Kill Shot centered around just one key mission, which made the story very linear yet uniquely compelling. Unfortunately, in telling the story Flynn focused heavily on minute details and left out a lot of the action and excitement you normally expect from his novels. Having said that, Kill Shot was very enjoyable overall and I definitely recommend it with 4+ stars.

Peter Schweizer says that, in a quarter-century as an investigative journalist, this is the scariest investigation he has ever conducted. That the Chinese government seeks to infiltrate American institutions is hardly surprising. What is wholly new, however, are the number of American elites who are eager to help the Chinese dictatorship in its quest for global hegemony.

Americans need to fully understand how our political, business, diplomatic, and other high-profile leaders are enriching themselves at the expense of not just American citizens, but at the expense of America itself.

This book was extremely disappointing
Revisado: 02-04-22
I've enjoyed military thrillers ever since I read my first Tom Clancy book, and I had high hopes for this book because it was on The New York Times Best Sellers list. I guess I shouldn't use that list as a barometer of quality because this book was truly bad.
The plot was very weak and full of holes, character development was thin and many characters were annoying, and the ending was beyond disappointing. And to make matters worse, I listened to the Audible version of this book and the narrator was subpar at best.
Having said all of that, the book was entertaining enough to finish...but just barely. However, the ending was so bad that I wished I hadn't finished it.

One decision can end everything...or lead to unlikely redemption. Millions watched the CBS 60 Minutes special on Jack Barsky in 2015. Now, in this fascinating memoir, the Soviet KGB agent tells his story of gut-wrenching choices, appalling betrayals, his turbulent inner world, and the secret life he lived for years without getting caught.

Excellent book...until the last several chapters
Revisado: 11-23-21
The book was very detailed and informative, and Jack's story was captivating and enlightening. As an added bonus, the narrator did an excellent job all the way through.
My only criticism is directed at the end of the book after Jack found Jesus and became a devout Christian. I fully support Jack discussing how important his newfound faith was in changing his life (I was raised Catholic), especially considering how he was raised in the atheist Soviet regime. However, the book dedicated too much time discussing the subject, to the point where it felt like Jack was preaching to the reader.
When Jack first took Shawna to lunch when she was his assistant, he told her he respected her faith. However, he instructed her that she should never preach to him, or try to evangelize him. I wish Jack heeded his own advice when writing the last chapters of the book.
If he had then I would have given the book five stars instead of four. Having said that, Jack's story is fascinating and the book is definitely worth listening to. I whole-heartedly recommended it.
