Historia
Two years ago, Olivia Martindale left behind her Montana hometown and her husband, Jace, certain it was the best decision for both of them. Back temporarily to protect her almost-adopted daughters from their biological mother, she discovers an old, handwritten cookbook in the attic. Its pages are stained and torn, their edges scorched by flame. Some have been smeared by water or tears. The recipes are written in different hands and in different languages.

No Place I’d Rather Be
Revisado: 11-04-21
This book had a wonderful uplifting story. It even brought happy tears at the end. The history of the Jewish German people was very accurate and so touching. My only complaint is there is a lot of rambling & repeating of facts & story line. There were several times I thought a chapter had started over because I had already heard what was being said earlier in the book.

This story was very hard for me to get into. I’m not sure if it was the reader or the story or just what it was. I could not get into the story until it was about 3/4 done. I was so looking forward to Dell’s story but it just seemed to lack substance. Sadly for me this was a poor ending to a wonderful series.

Historia
Patrick, or Gay Uncle Patrick (GUP, for short), has always loved his niece, Maisie, and nephew, Grant. That is, he loves spending time with them when they come out to Palm Springs for weeklong visits, or when he heads home to Connecticut for the holidays. But in terms of caretaking and relating to two children, no matter how adorable, Patrick is, honestly, overwhelmed. So when tragedy strikes and Maisie and Grant lose their mother and Patrick's brother has a health crisis of his own, Patrick finds himself suddenly taking on the role of primary guardian.

I loved this book. And what a treat having this wonderful story read by the author. The emotional, sad, funny & angry parts of the story are all so real in the steps of grieving. I highly recommend this read.

I loved this book. I finished it in one day. Couldn’t put it down. Keep Kleenex handy, the book is emotional in places. The author did a great job of going between past history to present day without being confusing. There is a bit of sad history, family saga & love story.

This story was very hard for me to get into. I just didn’t get all the obsession with clothes, make-up & what other people were doing. It wasn’t until the murder that I really got interested in the story. The narration was very good.

Even though I always wanted babies and children it was very interesting to learn the thoughts and feelings of women who never have wanted children. I enjoyed this book. The jumping around from year to year and life to life was quite confusing for me. I never did totally understand if Rose had a baby or not. I would love for someone to explain the concept of jumping back and forth to me. Then I would read this book again. Maybe then it would make more sense. I totally understood Rose’s feelings about not wanting children, no matter what life she was in. I also excepted her feelings. I would have booted Luke and his crazy family out long before Rose did.

It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on. I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.
