Historia
Two years after his wife’s death, oceanographer and former navy SEAL, Atticus Young attempts to reconcile with his rebellious daughter, Giona, by taking her on the scuba dive of a lifetime - swimming with a pod of peaceful humpback whales in the Gulf of Maine. But the beauty of the sea belies a terror from the deep - a horrific creature as immense as it is ancient. There is no blood, no scream, no fight. Giona is swallowed whole by the massive jaws. Only Atticus remains to suffer the shame of the survivor and his inconsolable grief turns to an unquenchable thirst for revenge.

Beautiful story. Not my fav by Robinson, but he certainly never disappoints.
Revisado: 06-24-23
As always, Robinson spins a beautiful tale of heart wrenching tribulations, love, and danger. A seed of religious questioning towards one’s personal belief either in god ,or against god, is woven deeply into this novel. I am left with a feeling of Robinson’s own values/beliefs.. yet he does a fantastic job of allowing the reader to come to his or her own conclusions. I wouldn’t read his books if he was making judgements, or conclusions, on religion. He simply creates beautiful stories, like this one, which allow you to take a step back and truely think about what your own beliefs are. No one can, or should, impose their beliefs upon another person. But we all should take time to reflect upon our own internal thoughts, beliefs, ethics, and morals. Looking at these things objectively is what crafts a good and decent person. And this book will make you question what you believe; in a good way. Much love, as always, for Robinson and all of his wonderful stories.

Fantastic rendition of a twist on the classic history of christianity

One of my favorites from robinson so far, and I’ve read at least 15 of his other novels. I’ve decided to go back and start from the very beginning of his career; because I like his writing and his stories so much. This one is in the top 5 of my favorites, and it is not what you may expect. I was curious whose side he would take in the debate of whether jesus was real or not. But you’ll have to read to find out for yourself! It is a beautiful journey to follow. You won’t be disappointed. Much love for robinson! On to “raising the past”! Couldn’t be looking forward to it any more. Outstanding author. Engaging and intricate writing. 10/10! ❤️

Shockingly good, for a random amazon find
Revisado: 10-29-20
This book really surprised me, it was much more “inclusive” than I expected. Perhaps thats not the right word, regardless what I mean is it has elements of Science-fiction, historial fiction, romance, hard-science, and a perhaps a tinge of fantasy (depending on what you believe is possible through science..). The historical element is what made this book unique and one I would undoubtably recommend to anyone who loves hard science fiction thats quite “out there”. I’m purchasing the next book in the series as soon as I submit this review.

Historia
George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.
