Interesting perspective on Plath’s biography
Revisado: 02-17-25
Very interesting and well researched, would recommend to any Sylvia Plath fan. I appreciate hearing a perspective that emphasizes a theme besides mental illness when looking at her life and work. She was a remarkable artist and this biography demonstrates that well.

Historia
In CIA Rogues and the Killing of the Kennedys, Patrick Nolan fearlessly investigates the CIA’s involvement in the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy - why the brothers needed to die and how rogue intelligence agents orchestrated history’s most infamous conspiracy. Nolan furthers the research of leading scholars who agree that there remain serious unanswered questions regarding the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy.

Hangs the whole theory on MK Ultra
Revisado: 12-28-18
Presents compelling evidence about discrepancies between the known personalities and motives of LHO and SBS and what was later claimed about them by the official assassination accounts, but this author’s theory is heavily dependent on the CIA’s secret MK Ultra program to explain the events. If you find it far fetched that hypnosis control can explain the complicated series of events in both assassinations, this book is not very convincing. The author also loses credibility in the final chapter by presenting the case of an amateur photographer who claimed to have been in the pantry at the Ambassador Hotel during the assassination of RFK and claimed that his photos of the events were confiscated by law enforcement and never returned. This man, Scott Enyart, has since been thoroughly discredited and there’s no evidence that he actually witnessed let alone photographed RFK’s assassination. The author fails to mention the problems with Enyart’s story and this leaves me wondering what other one-aided anecdotes he misrepresented elsewhere in his text.

One of my favorite GC professors so far
Revisado: 11-13-16
I'm a bit of a junkie for The Great Courses, especially their history titles. I wasn't in love with the medieval period before listening to this course, but this professor was highly engaging and made me thirst for more Middle Ages. Definitely would recommend for history buffs.

Historia
Western philosophy is a vast intellectual tradition, the product of thousands of years of revolutionary thought built up by a rich collection of brilliant minds. But to understand the Western intellectual tradition is to get only half the story. The Eastern intellectual tradition has made just as important a contribution-and is also the product of thousands of years of cumulative thought by a distinct group of brilliant thinkers. Their ideas demonstrate wholly different ways of approaching and solving the same fundamental issues that concerned the West's greatest thinkers, such as . the existence of God; . the meaning of life; and. the nature of truth and reality. This epic and comprehensive 36-lecture examination of the East's most influential philosophers and thinkers-from a much-honored teacher and scholar-offers a thought-provoking look at the surprising connections and differences between East and West. By introducing you to the people-including The Buddha, Ashoka, Prince Shotoku, Confucius, and Gandhi-responsible for molding Asian philosophy and for giving birth to a wide variety of spiritual and ideological systems, it will strengthen your knowledge of cultures that play increasingly important roles in our globalized 21st-century world.

Great lecturer
Revisado: 04-26-15
Hazen's expertise in and love for his subject were clearly evident in these lectures. The subject matter was very new to me and while I will need to listen a second time to fully grasp much of the nuance of the concepts, I never thought I would find geology so interesting. I plan to seek out his "Origins of Life" course next. I highly recommend this course.

Great overview of nutrition fundamentals
Revisado: 04-21-15
As a health conscious person I have done a fair amount of personal research about good nutrition but am always frustrated by not knowing whether the sources I am reading are reliable or subject to industry/political/personal bias. This course was an excellent way to synthesize the patchy areas of my knowledge about nutrition and give me a reliable, useful overview of nutrition science. The professor was very knowledgeable and enjoyable to listen to, if not riveting. I would recommend this course to others interested in their overall health.

What is the meaning of life? It's a question every thoughtful person has pondered at one time or another. Indeed, it may be the biggest question of all-at once profound and universal, but also deeply personal. We want to understand the world in which we live, but we also want to understand how to make our own lives as meaningful as possible; to know not only why we're living, but that we're doing it with intention, purpose, and ethical commitment.
