I read this book a couple years ago and I loved it so much I decided to listen to it when I ran across it on Audible as well. I was not disappointed. The narrators added so much to this story. The book deals with such real suffering and hopelessness, you tend to forget these are young kids experiencing these traumatic events and emotional repercussions. Both narrators add a youthful and naive perspective in their interpretation of the story. This adds a whole new element to the characters' development.

Great story and excellent writing!

Jesus Christ. This was a very well thought out and thorough novel. The writing is out of this world amazing. I have to say, if you are looking for something that is optimistic and makes you feel good, look the other way. Well, I guess it could be considered optimistic, but in a really morbid way.. This book is so honest and raw it will tear your heart out. Then whack it against the wall a few times. I feel a little traumatized.. But in the best possible way. ;)

The narrator was great as usual. She effortlessly brings the story to life.

Definitely worth the credit!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! This was a great book. I haven't been this hooked into a story for a really long time. There was so much angst, action, romance, great sex, amazingly developed characters, chemistry.. I could go on and on. Wonderful story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Seize the Fire?

There are a lot of really memorable moments in this novel.. I'd say the scene that stuck out most in my mind was an ambush at sea, because I feel like it pushed Olympia's character to a whole new level of understanding and growth. It was a heart wrenching and tragic way to grow, but after the ambush I feel like she was able to connect with Sheridan on a deeper level. I don't want to share more cause I don't want to reveal anything, but it was a very memorable scene.

Have you listened to any of Nicholas Boulton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, I've listened to many of Kinsale's other novels that he's narrated. This is right up there to what I expect from such a talented narrator. He has the ability to suck you into the story so much you don't even realize you're listening to a narration.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The last scene of the novel was very moving.

Any additional comments?

Definitely credit worthy! I was nervous because I usually don't listen to stories longer than 12 hours, I get bored with the fluff really long novels tend to have. This has zero fluff. Everything relates to moving the story forward, so it keeps you really engaged and reads fast.

This is a very slow burn romance. The characters were well developed before they even became interested in each other and they continued to develop through out the story. I also loved and appreciated how much they grew as individuals.

It was a clean story; however, there was still sensuality and chemistry between the H/h. There was a bit of a religious undertone, but it didn't overwhelm or take away from the story at all. I'm NOT religious and I didn't find it annoying or preachy in anyway, so I'd say don't skip over the story just because it's "inspirational" or "Christian" romance.

Overall a really enjoyable and heartwarming story. I'll be checking out more from this author.

This had all the makings of an amazing story! The h/H were flawed, dimensional, strong, likeable, and so well developed. Their love story was slow burn with just the right amount of conflict to keep the story progressing without getting annoying. The story was engaging, so many dynamics bring this story together to make it great.

Definitely credit worthy!

What did you love best about Summer is for Lovers?

I loved the chemistry between David and Caroline. There wasn't much sex in this novel (only the last scene) but there was plenty of build up and I feel like the main focus was on the romance. Yes, there was some sexual tension, but so much more emotional connection and friction.

What about Lana J. Weston’s performance did you like?

All of her characters had slight variations to their accents. I love it when narrators do this, it makes it so much more authentic and you know who is talking without needing a textual reminder.

Any additional comments?

It's a really sweet story. The characters are very likable, though not too perfect, and genuine. The plot evolved nicely and I had emotional reactions to this book, but none too intense. It's a good book to read as a break from life or intense novels.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is the first book by Kresley Cole I've read. This book is a part of a series, but I was able to understand the back story very easily without feeling like too much insignificant detail was thrown at me. It can be difficult to keep back story interesting without rambling, Cole did a great job at this. It works well as a stand alone.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved how completely flawed the characters were, but I still felt I could relate with them. There was a lot of character growth in this story as well. There was so much more to this novel than just sex and romance, though that was AMAZING as well.

Which character – as performed by Kimberly Alexis – was your favorite?

Maksimilian. She actually made him sound very masculine and even *sexy*.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had a lot of extreme reactions to this book. I laughed, cried, came on to my husband.. a lot.. Anyway. Did I mention the sex in this book is amazing..?

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes, overall I'd say it was time well spent. It's obvious Julia London is a very talented author. Her characters are engaging and her stories flow nicely.

Have you listened to any of Rosalyn Landor’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She was amazing as always!

Any additional comments?

Okay, so this is the thing. These characters are VERY flawed.. Which can make a story so engaging and interesting, so that in itself was not all that bad. However, the heroine was flawed in a way that made her very unlikable to me. She was very self involved and lacked empathy for anyone else, especially the hero. This could have changed by the end of the novel, as I couldn't get past about half way through due to my frustration... I was so aggravated by that point I didn't even care. It wasn't worth finding out if she redeemed herself in the end.

It was especially annoying since the novel seemed to point to the hero the antagonist in the story. He was the one with the disorder and he was really messed up and confused. His behavior was very wrong in so many ways, but while I felt as though his faults were a main focus in the story, I felt like her faults were passed off as having a spunky and cute personality. It went past the point as being spunky. It was often mean.

As someone who struggles through Obsessive Compulsive Disorder on a daily basis, for over a decade, I will admit that perhaps my point of view is a little biased when it comes to interpreting the hero's faults compared to the heroine's. My OCD presents itself very differently than the hero's, but I could relate to his humiliation from his disorder and how painful it can be to try to hide it and face judgment of people who don't understand. Yes, his behavior was often despicable, but I feel like his motivations came from a place of suffering and confusion. Her motivations seemed to come from selfishness and being unnecessarily judgmental.

Since I recognize that my biased viewpoint could have been more to blame in my not enjoying this book than the story itself, I could see how anyone without a thorn in their paw might really enjoy this story and not even think anything of the heroine's behavior. Because of that, I'd say YES, this novel is worth the credit and the writing itself is very good. London's novels are worth the risk. She's written some great novels.

What made the experience of listening to Catch a Falling Heiress the most enjoyable?

I cannot even count the number of books that have frustrated me beyond belief with conflicts that could be resolved so easily if the characters just had a straight up conversation about what they feel and their motivations. Yes, sometimes a little angst is pretty awesome, but not the kind of angst that's caused by the characters being morons. The characters in this book don't do that! I have never, ever read a character that talks as honestly as the hero. And it actually AVOIDS and RESOLVES the conflict!! Yet, there is plenty going on aside from communication between H/h that held my interest through the entire novel. It was soo fabulous to not have to feel like banging my head against a wall or throwing my Kindle across the room.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jack, because he doesn't beat around the bush when he's explaining himself. He's real, yo.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There were a few moments where I was laughing, it was a fun book. I especially loved the setups Jack put the other admirers through.

Any additional comments?

This is the first novel I've read from this author, I'll definitely be reading more! Susan Ericksen was amazing as always, I love her narrations so much. Overall, a fun, interesting, and fulfilling story.

Would you listen to Venetia again? Why?

I might! Which for me says a lot as there are only two novels I've listened to more than once by choice. I don't usually enjoy reading novels multiple times, but I could see myself wanting to read this again. It wasn't just the plot that had me involved, it was the humor and characters that kept me drawn in.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved how dynamic the characters were! They were multidimensional, interesting, witty, fun, flawed... The list could go on and on! They were so believable and well rounded.

What does Phyllida Nash bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She caught all the ironic tones and subtleties. It brought more dimension to the dialogue and greatly added to the humor.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I felt like the last scene with Venetia, Aubrey and Lord Demerol was very sweet and moving.

Any additional comments?
