Historia
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing - not even a smear of blood - to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

Ok book, not good narrator
Revisado: 02-26-19
The story was ok enough that I'll want to read the next in the series. The narrator was not good. Mispronounced words, characters periodically changing accents... and why did she decide to make everyone except for the main character either British or a bad mix of British and Australian? anyway... story was good.

Historia
She won't rest until she's sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever. Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that's all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone. Her father was right. The monsters are real.

The narrator did a great job - terrible story
Revisado: 03-16-18
This is one of the worst books I've ever read. I actually couldn't even finish it - and it takes a lot for me NOT to finish even a terrible book. 50% through on the dot, and I can't continue.
The author's writing was fine - great grammar, fine dialogue - but the content was not fine.
My issues with this book:
1) There was an overwhelmingly Christian overtone to the whole thing. Good vs. Evil, Light vs. Dark, praying, and too many talks about the wrongness of swearing and adultery, and multiple talks about the sanctity of virginity. Those things have their place in a Christian fiction, but not in a book that is supposedly about zombies.
2) This book isn't about zombies. This is strongly reminiscent of Twilight's version of vampires. These are not zombies. They are basically cannibalistic invisible demons that feed on "good spirits".
3) This is not related to Alice in Wonderland at all. It has nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland. There is a word here and there (like a cloud that looks like a white rabbit, oh my!), but this story is not at all a twist on the classic tale.
4) This is a Christian teen drama. Which I would have been fine with if that's what I was being sold on. However, I bought this because it was described as being an Alice in Wonderland-like zombie story.
Long story short, this is now 1 of 3 books of all time that I could not bring myself to finish.

Historia
No one has been murdered in the Cirque des Immortels since the clash between the otherworldly Courts and the death of Oberos at Lilith’s flaming hands. Vivienne is settling comfortably into her new life under the big top, with its late-night debaucheries, faerie secrets, and magical cast. She is now a fortune-teller, rather than a cotton candy seller, and has a magical boyfriend, Kingston, whose fierce charm has stolen her heart. But her own half-remembered past holds secrets of its own...

I can't stand this narrator
Revisado: 09-01-17
The story itself is great, but if I have to listen to this narrator's lilts, inflections, and terrible accent much longer, I'm going to scream. I find myself scoffing and backtalking her throughout the reading. The story is keeping me interested, but I'm having a hard time differentiating if I'm irritated by the narrator's way of saying "iron" and "ice" and "scream", or if it actually is used as a discriptor far too many times. But note to future self: don't get any audio books narrated by Amy McFadden.

Historia
Murdered contortionists aren't exactly what Vivienne signed up for when she ran away to join the circus. But like most things under the big top, nothing is what it seems. With a past she can't quite remember, Vivienne finds that running away forever might not be as appealing as it once sounded - because forever means something quite different at the Cirque des Immortels.

Good story, couldn't stand the narrator
Revisado: 08-27-17
The story was great. Interesting, character development, wide opened for a series. I'll be sure to read the next one!
The narrator made me want to stop listening. Unnecessary voice pitches, and every character except for the main one sounded like a "valley girl". Very irritating and grating.

I couldn't continue listening to her
Revisado: 07-21-15
I had to stop about 50% in. I really tried to finish - it is very hard for me to drop a book or audiobook without completing. She sounded like she was reading word for word from a script and failing miserably. I couldn't even pay attention to the materials after a while, as her reading/speaking style was so atrocious that it distracted from any information there was to gleam. Horrible.

Silly
Revisado: 12-31-14
Worth the $2 for 10 mins of silliness. The warnings were longer than the book... which made it more funny to me.
