Historia
Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

Not your typical Greek story but YA readers should enjoy
Revisado: 05-21-19
While the story is predictable it is still a enjoyable ride.
The narration is very well done...
However if you are expecting deep character development like in other YA series the first book in the Jackson series doesn’t hit the mark.
The pacing also feels rushed.
Our heroes have no time to rest nor talk to each other creating a connection with each other and themselves.
This is due to every chapter having a new conflict / monster encounter.
Don’t expect the pacing of the odyssey or other Greek tales.
Over all enjoyable but I don’t think I will return for the following books.

A story that belongs in a D&D game not necessarily in a bookstore
Revisado: 05-21-19
This story would have worked more as a D&D tale than an actual novel.
There are times when the writing is amazing however this is overshadowed by over use of the same phrases and descriptions every “battle” the main character engages in.
The voice for our main character is quite good.
However the dragon voice and all female voices is really off.
And you can tell this production was recorded and pieced together sloppily.
It just doesn’t flow well.
The influences of video games and RPGs is abundantly clear and it never really leaves that realm and allows itself to be taken seriously.

Nothing like Jurassic Park and it’s disappointing
Revisado: 01-04-19
I was a pretty big fan of Jurassic Park and immediately Began reading this equal when I completed it.
I could instantly recognize just how hard the author was trying to make this book as successful as the original.
But it just didn’t work.
The story was weak and the characters strayed so far from there original selves introduced to us in the first book that I had to force myself to finish this work.
I took very little joy and listening to this story it didn’t fit it didn’t feel right and I did not leave a smile on my face

If this is book one of a trilogy shouldn’t the story and characters be more interesting and developed?
Revisado: 12-14-18
Taking into account that this is a young adult novel and the beginning of a trilogy I am willing to pass full judgement upon completion of the whole story.
For now I will say that the narration was very well done and definitely helps aid in the story telling of Cassie and her adventure.
The characters as a whole are weak and somewhat forced.
The story has a lot of potential being that the world it takes place in has limitless opportunities to tell about of this world story
However it seems very lazily done in this first story
There is no real feeing of threat from the alien race and the world isn’t painted as very cruel or dangerous.
At least as much as it should or could be.
If you can force yourself to finish this and hope the rest of the two stories attached are better and allow for greater character understanding and development it may all pay off
However as a stand alone tale this is easily forgettable
Overall 3 of 5 stars

Roland Deschain and his ka-tet are bearing southeast through the forests of Mid-World, the almost timeless landscape that seems to stretch from the wreckage of civility that defined Roland's youth to the crimson chaos that seems the future's only promise. Followers of Stephen King's epic series know Roland well, or as well as this enigmatic hero can be known. They also know the companions who have been drawn to his quest for the Dark Tower: Eddie Dean and his wife, Susannah; Jake Chambers; and Oy.

Just another story on our journey to the Tower (nothing special here)
Revisado: 12-05-18
While I am a fan of the series I feel lately like each book is being drawn out more and more.
This story while predictable at many times attempts to mirror the “success” of the last title in the series by centering itself on one ultimate conflict that takes place at the end.
It is not a bad story
However I feel like this story took us so far from the tower quest that if the conclusion “cliff hanger” didn’t occur we wouldn’t have returned the the propped path this story strives to take us on.
The performance is good enough however I am a fan of Frank Miller more

Years late to the party but glad I arrived
Revisado: 12-05-18
Wow I cannot believe after seeing the film decades ago I am finally reading the novel.
And to tell you the truth it’s a completely different story.
The film follows this book maybe 20%
Which makes this experience so much sweeter.
The Narrator was solid and even though I hear very mixed reviews on the novels sequel i plan to check it out due to the respect I have for the story, the writer, and the narration

Tolkien is an artist for creating the world we come to love in the LOTR trilogy.
The story that started it all is a must read / listen

Military storytelling at its finest
Revisado: 11-26-18
As a military veteran I fully endorse this move for its realism and truthfulness
If you wanted to know the full accounts as to what lead to the killing of OBL look no further.
The narrator keeps the tone of the story on pace and leaves you wanting more every time you are forced to pause and comeback to it.
A great read and a must listen

Cormac McCarthy at his best
Revisado: 11-26-18
You may have enjoyed the film (which I am shocked stuck so closely to the writing of this novel)
But forget the film and read / listen to this book
McCarthy is an artist when it comes to “matter of fact” dialogue.
Each character speaks volumes through their actions and one in particular will stay with you forever.
This is a must read
