Historia
Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Entertaining but should be read with a grain of salt
Revisado: 09-13-21
This is a short but insightful piece that complements the traditional way that finance and investments is taught in schools with the assumptions that investors are rational beings, which we are not. My biggest takeaway is that, more than knowing the equations & theories, spreadsheets, and other technicalities of finance, being level-headed & having an awareness of the emotions driving our actions might be the most important thing to long-term financial success.
However, I sort of take this book with a grain of salt…some ideas are provocative, but the author takes a very ad hoc approach, and his wordings are not very precise (making it easy to interpret it the wrong way). He also offers suggestions with not much research/ data backing up. Oftentimes, he draws parallel between random fields to personal finance, and extrapolates too much. This book, in my opinion, is not an appropriate investment guide. At most it is a complement to traditional finance teachings. But as an entertaining book to finish in one or two days, it serves its purpose.
