At the end of the 2nd CD, I decided not to listen any more. The story was intriguing--a young girl is sent off to boarding school after an unknown calamity. The narrator's performance was so sing song and so persistently "perky" I got a headache, and couldn't follow the author's intent at all. There was a complete lack of emotional expression. I hated it. I plan to get the book so I can read the story instead.

Would you listen to Silence Is Goldfish again? Why?

Yes I would. The story is gripping and nuanced. You really start to care about the main character as she struggles with loss of trust. The narrator really captures so many shades of emotion--it is really the dialog that makes this story, and the narrator is very deft.

What did you like best about this story?

The dialog. The articulateness of Tess.

Which character – as performed by Jayne Entwistle – was your favorite?

Tess, of course, but she does really well with step-dad Jack, and makes my skin crawl with Anna, the school beauty/bully.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

When not talking says the most.

Any additional comments?

Marvellous, really glad to read/listen.
