Historia
Everybody knows Logan O'Toole, world famous porn star. Except then Devi Dare pops into my world, and pretty soon I'm doing things that aren't like me - like texting her with flirty banter and creating an entire web porn series just so I can get to star in her bed. Again. And again. With Devi, my entire universe shifts, and the more time I spend with her, the more I realize that Logan O'Toole isn't the guy I thought he was. So maybe I'm not the guy you thought I was either.

Much Different (& Better!) Than Expected!
Revisado: 03-07-23
This book delivered! I was looking for a good erotic romance to read and got this on sale. I was not expecting the depth and development of the characters and how much I would grow to care about their relationship. Contains one of the spiciest scenes I’ve ever read — thought my Kindle was going to burst into flames! The two narrators were also cast super well, they fit the characters as I imagined them and did a great job of reading the intimate scenes. I would HIGHLY recommend this for those who love the fake relationship trope. TW // Does contain a lengthy scene of sexual misconduct while on the job. I’m rarely affected by content in most TWs, but this one got to me, due to the realism of the event and 1st person POV. It was a pivotal event for the story progression and an important inclusion socially (spotlighting the real issue of SA in sex work), but it may be upsetting to anyone who has experienced harassment/abuse/assault. If need be, these chapters can be skipped without losing too much of the story.

Better Than the “Blood & Ash” series!
Revisado: 02-21-23
I was skeptical since the first book in this prequel series was so much like the original series, From Blood and Ash, and I was worried this series would also lose momentum in book 2 and get bogged down with exposition and lore, but that was not the case. This book was filled with exciting twists and turns and characters I became attached to (mainly the Draken, especially the little ones.) If you haven’t read the From Blood and Ash series, this series may make you feel like you’re missing a lot of info, but if you’ve put in the time to read all the books, this book is deeply satisfying to read. Even though we know the story history tells about these characters, we don’t know the whole story, and it was so exciting to see so much FINALLY fall into place and make sense. Warning: Ends on a MASSIVE cliffhanger and you will be left in major suspense! Can’t wait for the follow-up books later this year.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Essential Reading!! Eye-Opening, Raw & Healing for Trauma
Revisado: 01-20-23
Not only is this an exceptionally well-written book, but Jennette McCurdy does a spectacular job narrating her own harrowing journey through child stardom with an immeshed abusive mother. Surprisingly, I related so much to her story and instead of it triggering overwhelm with my own traumas, I actually gained significant healing from her insights and the way she presents her stories. She doesn’t shy away from the uncomfortable realities (as the title suggests!) which helped make me feel much less alone and gave me a sense of peace with many of my own struggles. Jennette also uses perfectly timed humor to soften the blows, so her message can resonate even deeper — it’s brilliantly done. She’s a wonderful storyteller and I was so glad to hear the book in her voice. In one part, you can hear her voice catch as she is overcome with emotion as she struggles to read the passage, and I’m so glad they kept that in. It was immeasurably powerful to hear and brought me to tears! I’ve been recommending the audiobook to people because of that moment; it’s as raw and real as all of her words on the page. She really dug deep and spilled her truth all over this pages and that takes incredible guts to share with the world.
I hope Jennette continues to pursue her passion for writing! She has true talent, and after reading this book, I would definitely check out any work she produces next. This book is a must-read, I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

Super spicy!! Must read fantasy romance!
Revisado: 12-18-22
This book definitely lives up to the hype! If you’re into Enemies to Lovers and a very spicy slow burn, you’re going to throughly enjoy this. The narrator does an excellent job throughout, I started listening to this while doing other things, but found myself just sitting and listening, the story is compelling and the characters engaging! Sex scenes are hot and not at all cringey — they’re very well-written, erotic without being explicit, and the audio narration is perfectly done. The fantasy world in this series is also very intriguing! Even though I rarely read stories involving immortal/long-living legendary beings (because I’m not always on-board with a potential age gap of ~*centuries*~), but this worked for me. I adore fantasy romance and loved that relationship is the main focus here, everything else is subplot. It also pulls off some clever spins on several beloved tropes. The book sucked me in from the first few pages, so you should know after sampling the first chapter or two if you’ll also enjoy this series! Highly recommend.

It’s Not Just True Crime, It’s IMPORTANT.
Revisado: 11-23-22
Just finished Season 1 & can’t wait to keep listening to more! Sounds like some were disappointed the reveal wasn’t crazier, but that’s not the point. At all. Imagine if this was your relationship, or your friend’s or family member’s relationship. It would be a nightmare and one of the most insane stories in your life. And the most upsetting part, is that this kind of abusive relationships happens to far too many people and people get trapped in traumatized. I wish I knew the signs before enduring years in several abusive relationships, and I commend Sarah’s strength for being brave enough to openly share something that is very hard for many of us to talk about or even admit. (If you have a similar history, this podcast could be a bit triggering, so have someone available to talk to if needed! But by the way it’s presented, I found this helped me more than anything.) Sarah’s family sound like BAMFs for having her back, and helping her share her story, and Tiffany has done an amazing job with the podcast and telling Sarah’s story in an engaging yet sensitive way. You never know who this could help and the awareness is incredibly important.

The thing about being confined is that you believe it’s to keep the bad out...Until you realize it’s about keeping you in. I’m now in a strange kingdom surrounded by liars, with no allies of my own, but I won’t sit idly by and let myself wither.

Love This Series - Can’t wait to read the next book!
Revisado: 10-22-22
I’ve been binge-reading this series and I absolutely love it! So glad it’s available on audiobook so I can keep reading as I go about my day. Although, there were several parts of this book where I had to stop what I was doing entirely because it got so good, and I just listened/read along with the narration on my Kindle copy! (I think we all know which parts of the book… ;) ) I just love how the main character has progressed through this series. The way she has evolved as a character as a result of her experiences and severe trauma feels so authentic, the emotional highs and lows she goes through are deeply relatable, and I love her journey to find her self and inner strength — it definitely makes me feel a lot less alone as a survivor.
Also, Slade is iconic, sign me up for the Fourth Kingdom Army, #Aurip is everything.
I hope that there will be an audiobook of the next book “GLOW” soon, I’m really looking forward to finding out what happens next!
PS: From other reviews, I know the narrator may not be everyone’s cup of tea. I felt similarly at the start of book 1, but they grew on me quickly, and ever since I’ve been really enjoying the audiobooks! I felt like their narration of this book was especially well done. (There still are some unusual pronunciations of words at times, but it wasn’t noticeable enough to affect my enjoyment of the story in any way.) I thought they did a great job of portraying a wide variety of voices in memorable ways, and conveyed the emotions of the characters in a compelling way that only makes this series even more impossible to put down. The narrator for Midas/Slade also did a great job, especially since those two characters couldn’t be more different!

It Gets Better (& Listen at a faster speed!)
Revisado: 10-17-22
Another reviewer gave the best advice: listen to this audiobook on a faster speed (I wavered between x1.1 & x1.2) and then the narration sounds great! It also gets better — at the beginning I struggled a bit with the narrator’s tone like many other listeners did, but their voice gets much more animated as the book goes on and I found it enjoyable to listen to.
The story is a quick and compelling read, it was hard to put down! I started reading the book on Kindle Unlimited, and ended up grabbing the audiobook so I could finish it while I got work done. (I needed to know what happened next and I just couldn’t wait!) The author has set up an incredibly intriguing and complex world, and after that cliffhanger ending, I’m definitely going to check out the next book in the series.

Great Follow-Up to Wake Me After the Apocalypse!
Revisado: 04-21-22
SPOILER-FREE REVIEW: I loved the first book and after the cliffhanger ending, I was amped for a continuation of the events in book 1. But instead, book 2 rewound all the way back to the beginning, to the moment when Comet Brandon was revealed to the world, and follows a different group hoping to ride out the apocalypse in a cryogenic sleep. There are two entirely new narrators in this, and instead of alternating between past and present like in book 1, book 2 is completely chronological. I’m usually a bit thrown when a sequel follows new characters, but early appearances of some familiar faces, places and event made it fun and super interesting. I found myself instantly invested in both Charlotte and Jack’s plights, especially as they navigated survival from completely opposite situations (Charlotte is the granddaughter of BRP’s top brass and Jack is a construction worker.) Jordan Rivet has a great knack for creating extremely compelling characters and I was quickly invested in this new cast’s survival. There is a ton more world building in this book, which was super interesting and also answered a lot of my questions from book 1. Can’t wait to find out what happens in the final book of the series! (It’s too bad though that there currently isn’t an audiobook for book 3, but I hope that one is recorded in the future!)
