Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Historia
Fifty years ago Malcolm X told a White woman who asked what she could do for the cause, "Nothing." Dyson believes he was wrong. In Tears We Cannot Stop, he responds to that question. If we are to make real racial progress, we must face difficult truths, including being honest about how Black grievance has been ignored, dismissed, or discounted.

Heart Rending and powerful
Revisado: 08-17-17
This is tough love. To listen to this book and not avert your eyes and heart, is a difficult thing. Not because the book is not well written, it is, but because it contains some truths that are hard to hear. It is a book that is just what we need in times like these. I think that this is one of those books that should be listened to in addition to being read. The passion and voice of the author bring to life the words he has penned. I hope that recent events give us all pause and lead us to reevaluate our beliefs and actions. We have come a long way but we are not close yet. Listen to this and start the conversations, it is time.

Historia
J. G. Boswell was the biggest farmer in America. He built a secret empire while thumbing his nose at nature, politicians, labor unions, and every journalist who ever tried to lift the veil on the ultimate "factory in the fields". The King of California is the previously untold account of how a Georgia slave-owning family migrated to California in the early 1920s, drained one of America 's biggest lakes in an act of incredible hubris and carved out the richest cotton empire in the world.

Stress Test is the story of Tim Geithner’s education in financial crises. As president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and then as President Barack Obama’s secretary of the Treasury, Timothy F. Geithner helped the United States navigate the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, from boom to bust to rescue to recovery.

Under the hood of an over the top crisis
Revisado: 02-15-15
A very interesting blow by blow narrative of the the last Great Recession. Mr. Geithner's unique positions, before during and after the crisis, allow him to give his side of the story. Whether or not you believe that his take is an unbiased telling, will likely be determined by you own political leanings. Never the less, one cannot help but gain a greater appreciation of the magnitude of the financial earthquake we all so recently lived through. As a recovering conservative, I felt his take was likely closer to the truth than anything we heard from the press. The counterintuitive methods used during the crisis seemed to ring true as well. History seems to be telling us that our natural instincts in an emergency are usually wrong, and the opposite course of the knee jerk reaction is a better way. I recommend this book to all, both conservative and liberal. It is always better to get the other side of the story whether you believe it or not.

Historia
Explore the power of the underdog in Malcolm Gladwell's dazzling examination of success, motivation, and the role of adversity in shaping our lives, from the best-selling author of The Bomber Mafia. Three thousand years ago on a battlefield in ancient Palestine, a shepherd boy felled a mighty warrior with nothing more than a stone and a sling, and ever since then the names of David and Goliath have stood for battles between underdogs and giants. David's victory was improbable and miraculous. He shouldn't have won. Or should he have?

Malcolm Gladwell is a genius. He looks at life from a different angle and gives us the ability to do the same. Good is bad. Weak is strong. Last is first. Believe it. Don't think that blond hair and blues eyes is the E-ticket. Listen to this book and you will know, you have a better chance than you thought.

Historia
Bill Bryson and his family live in a Victorian parsonage in a part of England where nothing of any great significance has happened since the Romans decamped. Yet one day, he began to consider how very little he knew about the ordinary things of life as he found it in that comfortable home. To remedy this, he formed the idea of journeying about his house from room to room to “write a history of the world without leaving home.”

Wow! We live in a great time. There were no, "good old days" . I thank god we did not live in the days of old, with all of the terrible things people took for granted back then. Read this book and you will be 79% happier about your life today than you were before you listened to it. Trust me!

How did America become “one nation, indivisible”? What unified a growing number of disparate states into the modern country we recognize today? To answer these questions, Winchester follows in the footsteps of America’s most essential explorers, thinkers, and innovators. Introducing the fascinating people who played a pivotal role in creating today’s United States, he ponders whether the historic work of uniting the States has succeeded, and to what degree.

Reporter Sam Kean reveals the periodic table as it’s never been seen before. Not only is it one of man's crowning scientific achievements, it's also a treasure trove of stories of passion, adventure, betrayal, and obsession. The infectious tales and astounding details in The Disappearing Spoon follow carbon, neon, silicon, and gold as they play out their parts in human history, finance, mythology, war, the arts, poison, and the lives of the (frequently) mad scientists who discovered them.
