Historia
Deep in the Arctic wilderness, Peter Freuchen awoke to find himself buried alive under the snow. During a sudden blizzard the night before, he had taken shelter underneath his dogsled and become trapped there while he slept. Now, as feeling drained from his body, he managed to claw a hole through the ice only to find himself in even greater danger: his beard, wet with condensation from his struggling breath, had frozen to his sled runners and lashed his head in place, exposing it to icy winds that needed only a few minutes to kill him. If Freuchen could escape that, he could escape anything.

Inspiration and adventure from a lost age of exploration
Revisado: 02-16-24
Okay, I will be frank: I picked this up on a whim from a 2 for 1 sale. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! Freuchen’s “9 lives” as an Arctic explorer, lecturer, film actor, journalist, freedom fighter, and writer takes the reader into a wonderful tale of transitional history for humanity through a 6’5” “Viking” that inspires, shocks, and humors the reader. The author and narration seemlessly ties the stories together into one amazing journey. If you are into early 20th century history, Exploration and Scientific Discovery, and storytelling, then this is for you….. it may inspire and ignite your own wanderlust!

Historia
Evil stirs in Briardark, an ancient forest that looms over the Shyishan village of Felstein, where whispers abound of the spectres and brutes that lurk amongst the trees. One man keeps these perils at bay—Samuel Helmgaart, the revered beasthunter of Felstein—but when tragedy strikes his family, an unknowable foe is unleashed, one that stalks the villagers and turns neighbour against neighbour. Soon, a witch hunt ensues, and in the midst of his own sorrow Samuel’s daughter, Cicely, struggles with grief that has twisted into something dark.

Building up to something big, Mr. Werner?
Revisado: 01-01-23
This was appears to be a continuation of Gothgul Hollow, which I thoroughly enjoyed. C L Werner KNOWS HORROR, and his Warhammer Horror books are quickly becoming my favorite, however I feel that the “slow burn” of revealing where this story is going is more of an intro to one of the protagonists that will pay off in a future book. If you are looking for a standalone book, maybe try Gothgul Hollow, and if you like it then go for this. I know I am excited to see what he has planned for us!

Man versus Nature in Warhammer Horror
Revisado: 03-27-22
I love Black Library’s Horror genre. This book was probably by far one of the best ones, especially for those that are not familiar with Old World/AOS mythos. I thoroughly enjoyed the protagonist’s disposition and grit, his unfolding backstory in the form of flashbacks as important in revealing more and more as the story unfolded (the pacing was terrific as well). I was hesitant at first of spending the credit (I always take a look at the reviews first) but well worth it! If you are looking for a jaded character, a backwater town (which was as much a character as anything else), and unfolding a more sinister horror, this will not disappoint!

Historia
Among the Space Wolves there are as many sagas as there are warriors. Though none quite like that of Lukas the Trickster. Renowned and reviled in equal measure, the Jackalwolf has ever stood apart from his brothers, passed from pack to pack by embittered Wolf Lords. But as a new enemy invades the icy reaches of Fenris at the height of the Helwinter, Lukas finds himself facing a foe who may rival even his legendary cunning - the drukhari corsair, Duke Sliscus.

Space Wolf Loki for the Win
Revisado: 03-09-22
You know, sometimes Norse-esque space marine warrior talk is great, but other times it can be a little “small town theatre company,” if you know what I mean. Lukas is a breath of Fenrisian air as we see the undercurrents of the Space Wolves culture through his eyes, pointing out the ridiculous and the brazen, all the while people hate him for it. Very enjoyable!
Just remember “we all have ate some Ork at one time or another!”

Wow, Black Templars are bamfs!
Revisado: 12-28-21
Yes, I went with that is my title because I seriously have no other way to describe it. This book called to me when I picked up the new army box, which the new models are killer by the way, and I was intrigue to learn more about these uncompromising, witch and Xenos hating chapter. I have been regularly downloading and listening to black library stuff (Space Wolves, Death Guard, Gaunts Ghosts, Crime, and Horror lines) and Astartes minus the Norse-awesomeness of those crazy sons of Fenris are a little bland for my taste, but to hear the contrasting perspectives or Militarium, Mechanicus, and Grimaldus was great! I highly recommend this as long as you aren’t an Orky sympathizer, they had very little moments in this book and was seen purely as an enemy. I immediately bought the Grimaldus model upon finishing this book!

Modern cosmic awesomeness
Revisado: 10-07-21
This was one of those random daily deal purchases that surprised me to the end. Loved the modern hard boiled detective/lovecraftian take on this. If you enjoy either genre, you will be in for a treat. Now to go dust off my Arkham Horror boardgame and hope for an HBO or Showtime series….
