Historia
Psychologist and winter expert Kari Leibowitz’s galvanizing HOW TO WINTER uses mindset science to help listeners embrace winter as a season to be enjoyed, not endured—and in turn, learn powerful lessons that can impact our mental wellbeing throughout the year. Kari Leibowitz moved above the Arctic Circle—where the sun doesn’t rise for two months each winter—expecting to research the season’s negative effects on mental health, only to find that inhabitants actually looked forward to it with delight and enthusiasm.

Winter mindset shift
Revisado: 12-17-24
Just finished listening, great book! Loved all the practical tools and strategies how to shift towards a winter mindset to appreciate the darkness and cold that winter brings. Stocked up on IKEA candles, making a list of cozy books and movies to watch this winter and enjoying the brisk and fresh crispy air outside- all ready to embrace our Canadian winter this season- thank you! Highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to stop complaining about the winter weather and is ready to shift their mindset to embrace winter and start enjoying it.

Historia
The disruptions of recent years have sparked a collective reckoning, forever changing the way we think about life and work. We reprioritized our lives, reordered how we envisioned the future. The pandemic changed society in many ways, but among the most powerful was a collective rethinking of our relationship to our jobs. Millions quit the workforce in 2021 and 2022, and stunningly almost a third had no new job lined up to go to.

Inspiring and very enjoyable read
Revisado: 04-04-24
I really enjoyed listening to “ Next”. Loved how the stories unfolded and they were truly inspiring, and also I very much appreciated the encouragement of the author to keep going and “there is always a reason for something you are doing”, sometimes it is not clear and the stage of struggle is something people don’t like talking about, everyone just wants to talk about their successful transformation when it is already done. So it was very refreshing to normalize the process of transformation, that struggle phase is part of the process and everything that we learn through the course of our life is like a building block to our next step. Loved the book! And it was very easy to listen to, very enjoyable. Thank you!

Entertaining, but boring at times with very strong and judgemental opinions
Revisado: 05-03-23
I made myself finish this book as I just like finishing things. Some stories and anecdotes throughout the book were funny and entertaining, some chapters were full of basic facts that you can find online, but the author did a great job doing this search for you and placing it in one book, so I give credit for that.
The other thing that I didn’t appreciate is a very strong, judgement and opinionated narrative, but then again this book is just an opinion of one person so definitely keeping that in mind just take what resonates and ignore the rest.
Would I recommend this book? Perhaps not.
Do I regret reading it? Also not, as it was funny at times and I appreciated a good compilation of questions on aging to reflect upon at the end of the book and also some great examples of inspiring women.

Historia
"Do you believe in luck?" is a polarizing question, one you might ask on a first date. Some of us believe that we make our own luck. Others see inequality everywhere and think that everyone’s fate is at the whim of the cosmos. Karla Starr has a third answer: unlucky, "random" outcomes have predictable effects on our behavior that often make us act in self-defeating ways without even realizing it. Starr traces wealth, health, and happiness back to subconscious neurological processes, blind cultural assumptions, and tiny details you're in the habit of overlooking.

Very inspiring!
Revisado: 01-11-19
When I started listening to this book, I was curious but not overall thrilled by it, there were some points that and some examples of the research that would sounds quite pessimistic to me. I couldn’t figure out how this book can inspire and/or motivate me. But since I was very curious about the subject, I couldn’t really stop listening to it. And I am glad I did not stop listening since it turned out to be super inspiring at the end. So I would recommend it to anyone who is curious and would like to learn more about luck and life overall. Great read! Thank you

Beautiful story of the WWII
Revisado: 10-07-17
I loved this book because it showed how war is devastating for all parties involved, there were no good or bad guys, just people who made certain choices and had to live with their choices afterwords.
Beautifully narrated, heartbreaking and emotional. I was lost in this book for days and loved every minutes of it.
