Historia
Over twenty years ago, the heiress Patricia Lockwood was abducted during a robbery of her family's estate, then locked inside an isolated cabin for months. Patricia escaped, but so did her captors - and the items stolen from her family were never recovered. Until now. On the Upper West Side, a recluse is found murdered in his penthouse apartment, alongside two objects of note: a stolen Vermeer painting and a leather suitcase bearing the initials WHL3. For the first time in years, the authorities have a lead - with the suitcase and painting both pointing them toward one man.

Arrogant, psychopathic Win gets a heart
Revisado: 06-30-23
Win is an annoying, entitled rich psychopath, but you can’t argue with his sense of personal ethics, even when he maims and kills. The first person perspective seems to work in this novel. Win lets you in his head and, finally, we find he has grown a heart.

Jack investigates - against the warnings of the police and his own editor - and makes a shocking discovery that connects the crime to other mysterious deaths across the country. Undetected by law enforcement, a vicious killer has been hunting women, using genetic data to select and stalk his targets.

One of Connelly's Best
Revisado: 08-03-20
I really enjoy all of Michael Connelly's books, I think I have listened to everything that he has written! This is one of the best. Every time you think you know or can guess how or where the story is going you find out you are wrong, and this story highlights many of the potential issues facing society as DNA analysis becomes more and more main stream. I would say that this is a MUST read for anyone who has participated in tracing their roots through a public DNA firm. I truly had a difficult time shutting this off! Great Job!

What a disappointment!
Revisado: 10-17-19
I love Harlan Coban and Scott Brick, I immediately jumped on this book... but! Harlan Coban starts out saying this is his first book and he probably should have gone back and edited it, but he still liked it and didn't. Well he should have! It is a 17+ hour book that could have been cut to maybe 12, but that is only part of the issue. It is very melodramatic writing, and when coupled with Scott Brick, it was just way way way too dramatic. I just barely did not return this. I do not think I have ever suggested an abridged version of a book before, but if you want to try this book, the abridged version has to be better.

Awful production of a great story.
Revisado: 02-20-19
I'm a huge fan of Ken Follett, I have read or listened to everything he has written. I first read Eye of the Needle years ago and decided to purchase this to enjoy the listen while driving. I had to stop. To me the production was appalling. To many voices and many that were poorly done. I also found the pacing to be taxing to listen to. I really believe a good audio production can make a okay book great and a poor production can make a great book awful. For me, this was the case with this book. Great story, I'm going to see if I can find it with a different production.

Returned this one!
Revisado: 09-11-18
This was not for me at all. It is placed in 2061, but there is no mention of this being a futuristic book. I was only able to get through about 2 chapters, there is little in those chapters that tells you this is the future other than the dialog, so at least at this time there seems to be no point to putting it 40+ years in the future. I found the voices and New York accents of the narrator very difficult to like. I did not "feel" anything from the cadence or intonation of the narrator. Mind you, I do like Science Fiction, but use the fact you are in the future to make a point, I felt that this was just plopped there for some unknown reason. I think that this is the first book out of over 100 that I have returned.

In Improbable Fortunes, Jeffrey Price takes us on a wild ride into Vanadium, a dusty, down-on-its-heels mining town in Southwest Colorado where it would be fair to assume that nothing has ever happened. But you'd be wrong. As it turns out, quite a lot has happened, starting with a suspicious mudslide that destroys the town's Main Street and a cowboy, Buster McCaffrey, arrested for the death of one of the richest men in America, Marvin Mallomar.

Not a bad listen,
Revisado: 10-10-16
I sort of view this as Carl Hiaasen meets the west!
I think that this is a very good listen if you are looking for a tongue-in-cheek western. Not quite as entertaining as most of Carl's works, but better than some of his. The story line was okay, not great, but good enough. I thought that Jeffrey Price did an excellent job with the narration, great vocals for each character. This is my first book for both the author and the reader. Worth a credit ....not the best but far from the worst that I have heard. I will probably try others by this author, hoping for a bit better. If you are looking for a new author, give it a try!

This book is impossible to describe well. Parts are very dark, but the story is compelling. The multiple readers are excellent. While I didn't always like the story line, I found I could not stop listening! Well derserving of the Pulitzer!

Worst Baldacci ever!
Revisado: 02-27-13
I have bought every Baldacci book just based on his name and I usually enjoy his books, but this one, ugh. It is actually hard to get through. The dialog is awful and the plot weak. I do like when there are two readers, but they added "sound effects" that are just distracting. I have gotten to the big fight scene and still may not choose to finish it. I'm tempted to return it, but .....
Just bad, and disappointed in Baldacci.
