Historia
An acclaimed medical expert and patient advocate offers an eye-opening look at many common and widely used medical interventions that have been shown to be far more harmful than helpful. Yet, surprisingly, despite clear evidence to the contrary, most doctors continue to recommend them.

An eye opening experience
Revisado: 06-16-22
A well written, thoughtful, well researched and thoroughly engrossing book, Dr. Offit doesn't hold back. I was surprised by how many common bits of household wisdom are not only wrong but dangerously wrong in some cases.
And while this book is a very sobering look at modern medicine, it does provide a path forward for us, and encourages communication between doctor and patient about the actual benefits and risks of care.
Well done.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

poignant and meta
Revisado: 05-26-16
Overall, this was an excellent book that was laugh out loud funny. Two small gripes: the author uses "said" repeatedly in conversations that sounds awkward. It can be a little distracting. My other gripe is the narrator, who does an otherwise excellent job, he, ahem, crushes it, doesn't do well distinguishing between voices.
Other than those two small nitpicks, this book is wonderful.

overall, not his best, and seemed to drag a little at times, but still, overall satisfying and complete.
