Historia
No visitors. No nights spent away from the apartment. No disturbing the other residents, all of whom are rich or famous or both. These are the only rules for Jules Larsen’s new job as an apartment sitter at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan's most high-profile and mysterious buildings. As she gets to know the residents and staff of the Bartholomew, Jules finds herself drawn to fellow apartment sitter Ingrid. When Ingrid confides that the Bartholomew is not what it seems, Jules brushes it off as a harmless ghost story...until the next day, when Ingrid disappears.

So Slow……..
Revisado: 04-08-25
I’m with the others who said this book was super slow. Really, it could’ve been condensed down to about two hours. The premise was good and believable but it just drug on and on. The narrator was ok. All in all, I wish I hadn’t wasted the credit.

Beautiful Ghost Story
Revisado: 10-09-24
Ok…I really liked this book. I do think there should be trigger warnings attached though. This book has many mentions of child abuse in the worst way. The story is so good and I would read it again but I just want others to be aware. The story is beautiful, a brother helping his sister. Would recommend!!

You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself. But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives.

What?!
Revisado: 08-01-24
Ok I liked this book but just what?! This story was not what it appeared and I’m just flabbergasted. I do think some of the story just drug on and I thought I’d never get to the ending, it did keep me guessing about who the “bad guy” was. It also grates on my nerves how the narrator mispronounced “ rifling.” This was the second book I read with that word being mispronounced. Anyways, I would recommend but be cautious because nothing is what it seems!

Historia
Alex Armstrong has changed everything about herself—her name, her appearance, her backstory. She’s no longer the terrified teenager a rapt audience saw on television, emerging in handcuffs from the quiet suburban home the night her family was massacred. That girl, Alexandra Quinlan, nicknamed Empty Eyes, was accused of the killings, fought to clear her name, and later took the stand during her highly publicized defamation lawsuit that captured the attention of the nation. It’s been ten years since, and Alex hasn’t stopped searching for answers about the night her family was killed.

Loved Most of It…
Revisado: 06-27-24
I really loved the second half of the book. I feel like the whole part with Tweedledee and Tweedledum trying to blackmail her could’ve been left out. I didn’t like that part at all. The ending was great and I waited the whole book to find out what I had suspected all along. This was my first time reading anything by this author and I’m running to find more right after this. All in all, I do recommend especially if you like twists.

Good not Great
Revisado: 01-20-24
I really liked the first narrator. She had a pleasant tone. The second narrator I didn’t like as much and I felt like she detracted from the story. The story was good but I felt a little let down at the end. Like I was waiting for some big finish that didn’t come. Overall it was good. I would recommend.

I love these books. I love the Dan Riley series. This was a good story but I had it figured out way early on. It was still a good listen and the narration was good. Would recommend!

Good not Great
Revisado: 12-01-23
I really did like this story. The characters were likable and the story itself kept me interested. However, I think I would have chosen a different narrator. I love Kevin OBrien’s writing. Most of his books are enjoyable but most of the narrators are terrible. I don’t understand. Also, some of the story is quite unbelievable especially where the police are concerned. But, I am reading this for entertainment and though it has me scratching my head in puzzlement at times, I still really enjoyed it. I would recommend just be forewarned about some of the far-fetchedness!

Meh…
Revisado: 05-12-23
This book was just ok. The narrator did a good job but the story was just ok. The twist wasn’t groundbreaking. My mind just went “well ok then” and that was it. The police procedures in this book were oftentimes weird to me. I found myself wondering why, in this modern age, did it take them so long to solve these murders.

This is a great book full of twists and turns. Thought I had it figured and I didn’t! Narration is spectacular! I will say, as an American, the American accent was atrocious! Haha! Great story!

Loved!
Revisado: 12-22-22
I live in NC and had only heard about this vaguely. This story had me hooked from the beginning. I’m appalled that the state I live in and love would allow these things to happen, especially to children. The story was informative, well-written, and interesting. The narrator does a good job at trying to “voice” the different people. If cults, religion, or anything of the like interests you this book is for you!
