Historia
To most people, he’s the Chicago Falcons starting right winger and hot single dad, but to me, he’s my first boyfriend, my first kiss, my first love. Eight years ago, that all changed when our lives took us in two different directions. Our break-up almost broke me, so I kept my distance until our hometown called me back to where our story began. I promised myself a quick visit to help my family out, and then I’d leave town before he even knew I was back, which should have been easy. He’s way too busy being a professional hockey player and raising his son to ever find out.

Excellent!
Revisado: 03-20-25
The story is so great, well-written, and gives all the feels. The spice is there, but so is the emotional connection. Out of all of Piper's worlds she has created this is by far my favorite. I feel like her balance in her writing has hit its stride and that she has adeptly made characters that I truly care about and want more from. I have a craving at the end of each of 'The Nest' books to know more, read more, and I actually miss all of the people. I hope this series is one of her longest running and becomes her main world with which all of her following books are spun from.
Also... the duet narration is so friggin good! I now wish all books were in duet!

Lucky. The one adjective used to describe my entire hockey career. I prefer to call it hard work - at least I did until my game went to complete crap. I haven’t scored in eight games, and the team owner is talking about trading me. I’ve never believed in superstitions. Never needed one. I suppose I was “lucky” in that way. But now the best way to refer to me is desperate. I’d wear the same socks for an entire year just to be the high-scoring center I used to be. Imagine my surprise when after spending New Year’s Eve with a woman, I score a hat trick in the next game.

Abrupt ending
Revisado: 03-20-25
It was a good story with strong performances, but the ending was very, very abrupt. The story was built very well only to have an issue arise within the last hour of the story with it all being tied up in a neat bow within the final 10 minutes. It makes for a very unsatisfying end.

Fairy tales...you've all read them. Cherished stories of magical characters, wicked stepmothers, enchantments, and adventure. But what if everything you believed to be good and true was a lie? What if the actual truth was an even greater tale? Listen to the accounts from those who lived them. Just how did Rumpelstiltskin turn straw into gold? Who was the giant in Jack’s story? Were Red Riding Hood and Alice really that innocent? Why did the Pied Piper lure the children away? And who is asking all the questions?

A fun new twist on old fairytales.
Revisado: 08-26-23
This book is a fun ride from start to finish. The new twists that were put into these old fairytales give a fresh new perspective and make you question everything you thought you knew. Fn, fun, fun, especially if you have younger children to enjoy this with. They will chuckle with glee at hearing how their lovely, innocent heroines/heroes are perhaps not so innocent. A joy to listen to with a resounding 'hurray!' for the wonderful narrator.

Not bad.
Revisado: 11-15-22
Christie is very difficult to mimic. All in all, these writers did not do a half bad job. Was it on par with Christie? No. Was it entertaining? Yes. The stories were well-written and engaging, but they were not all successful in capturing the essence of Miss Marple. Good, cozy, murder mysteries, but if you are a Christie fan who can not tolerate her works to be blemished; this one is not for you. Otherwise, a fun listen.

I could have listened to Rob Schneider for several hours. This is coming from someone who didn't much care for him prior to this episode. He is an engaging storyteller without sounding like a smug, full of himself, asshole. Fantastic. Please bring him back on in the future. Very well-spoken.

Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

A good book.
Revisado: 02-25-19
I have to be honest, this is not the most thrilling book. I read numerous reviews before purchasing this book and most said it was 'thrilling' and 'exciting'. It is a very good book and I enjoyed it very much, but it is not thrilling. It keeps your attention and is paced perfectly. It keeps moving and you want to find out what the big mystery is, but if you are looking for a 'fast paced, thrill-ride' this is not it. That said, I loved the book, I just wanted to put this out there for those that may be swayed by the misleading reviews. Excellent book, certainly was surprising and very well written.

Revisado: 07-20-18
When he plays a voicemail that his buddy recently sent him of he and Chris Farley it truly choked me up. I don't care what the tabloids say, he seems like a decent dude to me and he makes me laugh non stop. Would love to see/hear many more books from him. I really could listen to him for hours upon hours, he's awesome at performing audio.

Historia
In the most extraordinary journey Ann Rule has ever undertaken, America's master of true crime has spent more than two decades researching the story of the Green River Killer, who murdered more than 49 young women. Green River, Running Red is a harrowing account of a modern monster, a killer who walked among us undetected. It is also the story of his quarry -- of who these young women were and who they might have become.

Very thorough.
Revisado: 06-20-18
Most of the book is dedicated to describing the victim's and their lives. It really doesn't get into who the GRK is until the last few chapters and then it kind of rushes through who he is and the trial. Spends so much more time on who the victim's are that it becomes tedious to the point of losing interest. Well written, but drones on a bit much for me.

Revisado: 05-14-18
The narrator has changed, but he is a fantastic replacement. I actually much prefer the new narrator to the old one. The thrill ride continues and does not fail to stop. I find myself caring about this family as if I know them and I can't wait each time a new book in the series comes out so I can continue to follow their (unfortunate apocalyptic) adventure. I have read books upon books upon books about zombies/end of the world genre and this is, by far, one of the best (series).

Good. Very good.
Revisado: 05-10-18
I am very picky about my cozy/british mysteries. I am a huge fan of Agatha Christie, Rex Stout (not british) and Ngaio Marsh. It is always a pain trying to find something that strikes my interest; after reading some reviews of this book I decided to take a chance. I am thrilled that I did. It is a slow burn that takes a bit to get into, but it is well worth it. The writing is of great quality and the storytelling is top notch. The narrator has a lovely voice, but I see she is not used again. A bit disappointing, but I am still going to continue with the series because it is that good. Finally I am excited about another author and series!
