Historia
Washington, DC, 1950. Everyone keeps to themselves at Briarwood House, a down-at-the-heels all-female boardinghouse in the heart of the nation’s capital where secrets hide behind white picket fences. But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship. Grace’s weekly attic-room dinner parties and window-brewed sun tea become a healing balm on all their lives, but she hides a terrible secret of her own.

I enjoyed so much about this book, but in particular, I learned about Margaret Chase Smith and the Declaration of Consciousness. We need to bring this piece of history forward at this time.

Historia
Woodrow Wilson Nickel, age 105, feels his life ebbing away. But when he learns giraffes are going extinct, he finds himself recalling the unforgettable experience he cannot take to his grave. It’s 1938. The Great Depression lingers. Hitler is threatening Europe, and world-weary Americans long for wonder. They find it in two giraffes who miraculously survive a hurricane while crossing the Atlantic. What follows is a twelve-day road trip in a custom truck to become Southern California’s first giraffes. Behind the wheel is the young Dust Bowl rowdy Woodrow.

Historia
Henry Bins is only awake one hour a day. Can you imagine only being awake for one hour each day? Can you imagine having to cram your entire existence into sixty measly minutes? Two minutes to shower. Three minutes to eat. Five minutes to watch TV. And in that 3600 seconds you have awake, imagine that you have to figure out...Who murdered the woman across the street?

Accurate Details Are Important Part 2
Revisado: 01-13-24
Well, I had a suspicion that I should have waited on my first review because the only plausible reason for such detail errors ended up being part of the plot, without giving too much away. But still, it was head slappingly difficult at times. The narrator overall does a fine job, but learning places names pronunciation is important. I laughed at Tanana sounding like banana...it does not. :)

Historia
When Boady Sanden first receives the case of Elijah Matthews, he’s certain there’s not much he can do. Elijah, who believes himself to be a prophet, has been locked up in a psychiatric hospital for the past four years, convicted of brutally murdering the pastor of a megachurch. But as a law professor working for the Innocence Project, Boady agrees to look into Elijah’s file. When he does, he is alarmed to find threads that lead back to the death of his colleague and friend, Ben Pruitt, a man shot to death four years earlier in Boady’s own home.

Historia
An activist attorney is killed in a cute little L.A. trolley called Angels Flight, far from Harry Bosch's Hollywood turf. But the case is so explosive - and the dead man's enemies inside the L.A.P.D. are so numerous - that it falls to Harry to solve it. Now the streets are superheating. Harry's year-old Vegas marriage is unraveling. And the hunt for a killer is leading Harry to another high-profile L.A. murder case, one where every cop had a motive. The question is, did any have the guts?

Interesting Story, Difficult Delivery
Revisado: 02-07-23
The story is interesting, with some twists that are not completely predictable. The values and social issues in the story are pertinent and compelling. The weak point, for me, is the narration. Peter Giles reads fluently and has expression. However, his interpretation of the emotional intent behind the narrative is abrasive. Everything Bosch says seems, in Giles' hands, seems to have a petulant and whiney, angry tone. The deeper psychological motivation of the complex range of why Harry Bosch is the way he is left out of the reading. I found it frustrating and annoying enough to the point where I almost stopped listening, but the story kept me going. If Giles were a child, I would teach him how to use his non-whiny voice.

One of Bachman's Best
Revisado: 12-11-22
I read some reviews that said the story had too much foreshadowing and was too long but I couldn't disagree more. The foreshadowing in this story is brilliant and really doesn't give everything away. It sets it up in such a way that you feel like you're living the life that's in the book. I have never read a story that made me feel like I was seeing the parts like you do when you are living your life and you don't know really exactly what it means. This trilogy is at the top of my all time favorite stories list..

Pros Then Cons
Revisado: 09-23-22
Pros: This story addresses some aspects of eating disorders in tweens. I did finish it, but that is most likely because I was doing chores and not willing to stop and search for another story.
Cons: Very slow story. The author repeated minor details ad nauseum. I didn't like one character in this story. They all drove me crazy. The ending is far fetched, for me. Well, I should say the second ending, or cliff hanger, or whatever it is the author intended.
Overall: Good narration. If you like focused detailed stories, and can suspend disbelief in the characters' behaviors, this might be for you.

Yays and Nays
Revisado: 08-03-22
I don't usually write long reviews but I felt compelled to give my feedback on this story. The yay: the story is interesting and and it kept me listening. The metaphor of Christian love is evident and works for that schema. The characters are compelling and the plot is interesting. Even though I didnknow of the Christian theme when I got this book, it isn't really the only way it can be interpreted. Healing and forgiveness can come in many forms.
The nay: Overall rather unbelievable situations occur multiple times.. Also it got a little too emotionally squishy, or sappy, for me and unrealistic in how love really works. It is more of the ideal we all wish for but I know of no one who has experience with this sort of behavior. I see as being incredibly perfect in one's imperfections. Therefore, I found it rather disheartening and not enlightening, as some reviewers have stated. If you like Nicholas Sparks, this is for you.
