Historia
When Major Rufus d’Aumesty unexpectedly becomes the Earl of Oxney, he finds himself living in a remote Norman manor on the edge of Romney Marsh with his noble, hostile, and decidedly odd family. His position is contested both by his greedy uncle and by unexpected claimant Luke Doomsday, a dashing member of the local smuggling clan. They should be natural enemies, but cocksure, enragingly competent Luke is a secretary by trade and quickly becomes an unexpected ally, the partner Rufus needs...and soon the lover he can't live without.

Plot twist ending!!

Love the plot twist ending! It has no bearing on the plot but gives a satisfying wrinkle at the end!

Historia
The Magna Carta is revered around the world as the founding document of Western liberty. Its principles - even its language - can be found in our Bill of Rights and in the Constitution. But what was this strange document and how did it gain such legendary status? Dan Jones takes us back to the turbulent year of 1215, when, beset by foreign crises and cornered by a growing domestic rebellion, King John reluctantly agreed to fix his seal to a document that would change the course of history.

Historia
Luc O'Donnell is tangentially - and reluctantly - famous. His rock-star parents split when he was young, and the father he's never met spent the next 20 years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad's making a comeback, Luc's back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything. To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice normal relationship...and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He's a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and someone who has never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. He’s perfect boyfriend material.

The book has its cliche happy ending, but it’s super funny and sweet and makes it a very good read.

Historia
For most of its history, the US avoided making political and military commitments that would entangle it in European-style power politics. Then, suddenly, it conceived a new role for itself as the world’s armed superpower and never looked back. In Tomorrow, the World, Wertheim traces America’s transformation to the crucible of World War II, especially in the months prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. As the Nazis conquered France, the architects of the nation’s new foreign policy came to believe that the US ought to achieve primacy in international affairs forevermore.

Standard Academia Piece
Revisado: 04-17-23
This is a book.
A book full of information. The information is very dense and reads just like an academic paper. This is by design, having been published by the Harvard University Press.
The book presents a very deep analysis of how the United States achieved global paramount status. However, I would have liked to see further analysis of how that power grew and transformed after eight decades (and counting) of world hegemony.
Good book overall!

It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco, the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some twenty years earlier the United States lost a war - and is now occupied by Nazi Germany and Japan.

Not like the Show
Revisado: 03-23-23
For those that read the book after watching the show: some of the characters you see in the show appear in the book, but much of the plot does not.
You might as well consider it a separate book/series

Perfect Prequel
Revisado: 01-21-23
The First to Die at the End is a wonderful prequel book to They Both Die and the End. Not only does it follow a wonderful story of two boys destined to not be together more than the next day, but it also develops the world that DeathCast lives in. The links between the books are wholesome and made remembering the original book so much more impactful. 11/10 would read again.
