Great stories, could use a good editor

I really enjoy this series, great overall story arc. But some editing is in order. I only need to hear the same whiny speeches about "filthy magic" so often. Or to hear Ingrid threaten Viggo with a black eye... And someone can only look "so innocent they've never so much as broken a plate" so many times before it starts to grind.

Mix it up a bit more. Less repetition. Let the characters grow and mature beyond the same tired dialogue. Please!

Hire a Narrator

Rita Mae Brown is a favorite author of mine. I read this book years ago, and loved it! But I just can't listen to this.

All the respect to RMB, but please re-release with a professional reading it!

Narration was bad, and production was worse. Beyond that, just didn't hold my interest. Not at all up to the Newford books, or Kate Reading's performance.

Hit or Miss

Some of the stories were excellent, others I struggled to finish. The excerpts from novels didn't make sense on their own. For example, I love Stardust, but the portion included here was kind of worthless without background.

On the plus side, Neil has the perfect narrating voice!

Odd's hometown of Pico Mundo is a fictitious place in California's Mojave desert. As many place names in CA, real or fictitious, it is Spanish. It translates to tiny world, perhaps to emphasize how Odd tries to voluntarily limit his life to the area, or perhaps to emphasize that this place is like a microcosm of the entire world...

In any event - throughout the ENTIRE Odd Thomas series Mr. Baker pronounces the U in mundo as we pronounce Monday. Every single time he mis-pronounces mundo it takes me out of the story.

I expect this sort of thing when listening to books on science and engineering (actors are rarely conversant in those terms) but Spanish is practically the U.S.A's 2nd language, and mundo is a common word in that language.

The fact that not only Mr. Baker, but the entire production team let this slip through the 7 book series is very annoying, and unworthy of the material being read.

Horrible Narrator

Really good book. Really bad narrator! There are three previous books and two seasons of TV shows, and this joker can't pronounce Kahlen's name correctly?!? This book needs to be re-recorded with a competent narrator.

Bit of a letdown

Great narrator, but the storyline wasn't as good as the first book. Really struggled to get into it early on. Not sure if I'm going to read the next one or not.

Not My Favorite Joe Pickett

Not as well thought out as the first three books... there were at least a couple of glaring flaws in plot and procedure. And the "woo woo" alien factor was a bit much. But, will try at least one more of the books as I really like the characters!

Quite a Long March

Did not enjoy this series as much as The King's Ranger. The pace was slow, and the atmosphere dark for my taste. Not bad, but probably won't listen again.
