This one was kinda cute, but it took sooo long for any type of anything to happen. The intimate scenes were not very good to be honest. I could relate or feel for both characters in one way or another so that is a bonus. I will probably listen to it again but it will not be in my rotation of books I can listen to on repeat, which is fine! I have only listened to one other by Christina Lee and that one was better, yet still, only once. I will probably revisit that one soon. This can be a sweet listen if you enjoy slow burn then only a fizzle during erotic scenes.

Poor Narration

Like many, many people before me have said, the narration is awful. Normally I love Tor Thom as a narrator. However, this Brooklyn accent he is attempting in his deeper voice sounds ludicrous. He could MAYBE have pulled it off in his softer tone. I also feel like he should have, in fact, used his tones opposite for these characters. I actually believe I would like this book better as a whole had that been the case.

I didn't find Kip especially likeable. Scott either. Or anyone else for that matter. Most of the sex scenes made me cringe a little. I am going to kindly chalk it up to just having higher expectations for this type of story and genre. I am an avid M/M or contemporary romance/erotica reader and listener. I have read and listened to many hockey and other sports romances that were M/M and this was probably my least favorite. There is just some sort of realism missing. I didn't feel any chemistry. Possibly because I've read/heard so many 'first openly gay (name your sport) player' stories. How about someone can be the second or third openly gay athlete but has other reasons for staying closeted? Just a suggestion!

The reviews sold me on this and I am so disappointed. I would have considered returning it had I used a credit. Unfortunately, I actually bought it. On sale thank god.

I cannot stress enough how terrible this book is. I didn’t read reviews beforehand but about halfway through I looked at some. Mostly the same as what I’m saying. *Spoilers* For what a “genius” the husband is, he sure is an idiot and there is seemingly no logic behind any of his decisions. There a few things in a book I despise more than a weak protagonist. Well, that’s exactly what she is. The story is awful, the narration is terrible, the characters have zero depth. The ending made me roll my eyes so hard I thought they might roll right onto the floor. I don’t like to be so critical, I personally do not have the skill or talent to write a novel. But to have the audacity to charge money for this? Shameful.
