Marie Kondo is definitely life-changing
Revisado: 01-13-23
I recommend her first book first, The Life-changing Magic of Tidying, which honestly couldn't be better named. It is excellent at giving the general how to with every category and is also short and easy to get through. It's the crash course you need.
This book builds on the original, brings some clarity on the finer points, adds lessons learned over the years since writing it and answers a lot of questions raised by her many clients. The tidying journey is a personal one based on your own individual personality and values and so having more clarity for those of us who may have different systems is definitely helpful.
The first book definitely did change my life. This one has been helping me navigated some of those trickier decisions as I work towards finishing my tidying marathon and gave me that encouragement and inspiration I needed to continue through the last and most difficult parts - confronting sentimental items.
I've been listening to it while meditating on finding a place for those things I couldn't bear to part with and have been finding its advice very helpful in guaging my feelings around those objects and their purpose to me. Remember, after discarding comes finding your possessions a home, which she also touches on more in this book as well. I found this book helpful for adapting my space more to my own style while still giving practical advice on what measures to use for joy check and how to store them.

Historia
Danny Tozer has a problem: She just inherited the powers of Dreadnought, the world's greatest superhero. Until Dreadnought fell out of the sky and died right in front of her, Danny was trying to keep people from finding out she's transgender. But before he expired, Dreadnought passed his mantle to her, and those secondhand superpowers transformed Danny's body into what she's always thought it should be. Now there's no hiding that she's a girl.

Trans superhero fans will love this!
Revisado: 09-15-22
I loved it and as a trans listener who is also integrated in the community I could tell from the details of her descriptions the author is either trans or has had many actually trans people review it because it was so refreshing not only to encounter a trans superhero but to properly relate to a depiction of a trans character! So many times I found myself practically fist-pumping with excitement because it was just so satisfying!
Her descriptions are ones so familiar to trans listeners and I love how the stories combine a good amount of action with the intersection of the classic weight of heroic responsibilities with the everyday concerns relatable to trans people such as encounters with transphobia and other commonplace interactions so many trans people are all too familiar with, such as the worries associated with how people read us, the exhausting explanations, the same types of gatekeeping arguments and encountering the stark difference between how men and women are treated which so many of us become acutely aware of through transitioning.
I am most of the way through the sequel now and loving it too, really hope there'll be more books soon cause I'm hungry for them!

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Incredible
Revisado: 09-15-22
Incredible writing and narration by the author. I don't get through many books but I'm really glad I bought this one! I found it immersive, thought provoking and still entertaining despite the heavy topics.
Some Content Warnings:
1) Eating Disorders: If you struggle with eating disorders there are some graphic descriptions, negative valuations and weight numbers mentioned, the book leans very heavily into her struggle with eating disorders as a main theme so you may want to miss it then.
2) Some descriptions of sexual assault, rape and creepy behaviour.
3) Abusive relationships - another main theme, as you likely guessed from the title.
