Historia
Gregory Maguire turns his trademark wit and wisdom to an animal adventure about growing up, moving on, and finding community. When Papa doesn't return from a nocturnal honey-gathering expedition, Cress holds out hope, but her mother assumes the worst. It’s a dangerous world for rabbits, after all. Mama moves what’s left of the Watercress family to the basement unit of the Broken Arms, a run-down apartment oak with a suspect owl landlord, a nosy mouse super, a rowdy family of squirrels, and a pair of songbirds who broadcast everyone’s business.

Historia
Sally Milz is a sketch writer for The Night Owls, a late-night live comedy show that airs every Saturday. With a couple of heartbreaks under her belt, she’s long abandoned the search for love, settling instead for the occasional hook-up, career success, and a close relationship with her stepfather to round out a satisfying life. But when Sally’s friend and fellow writer Danny Horst begins dating Annabel, a glamorous actress who guest-hosted the show, he joins the not-so-exclusive group of talented but average-looking and even dorky men at the show.

Unhelpful wokeness inserted
Revisado: 04-19-23
I enjoyed the premise and laughed out loud at some parts, but the inserted woke statements and views did not develop the characters or help the story line along.

When Andy Ngo was attacked in the streets by antifa in the summer of 2019, most people assumed it was an isolated incident. But those who'd been following Ngo's reporting in outlets like the New York Post and Quillette knew that the attack was only the latest in a long line of crimes perpetrated by antifa.

Beware is Marxism. Russia and Eastern Europe have gone through this disease and are still healing. America, do not catch it!

The Overlords appeared suddenly over every city - intellectually, technologically, and militarily superior to humankind. Benevolent, they made few demands: unify earth, eliminate poverty, and end war. With little rebellion, humankind agreed, and a golden age began.

what did he eat?
Revisado: 01-22-20
Interesting story, which was perhaps initially thought of some deep cosmological meaning. It is certainly there, however I could not shake off the feeling that current politics is quite well mirrored in the story line. The conflict between the globalists seeking to universalize all and the traditionalists / nationalists seeking freedom to be in peace the way they want it... One unresolved question though: what did the traveller eat while visiting the overlords? Also, upon coming back to Earth many years later, when no more humans were present, what did he eat for many years until the grand finale? :-)

Drawn-out, full of profanity
Revisado: 09-07-18
What a terrible book. Could not pass chapter 2. Every other word is f***. What for? Too much of unnecessary digression into looks, trivial thoughts and overall unclear direction.

Historia
Winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1974 and the culmination of a life's work, The Denial of Death is Ernest Becker's brilliant and impassioned answer to the "why" of human existence. In bold contrast to the predominant Freudian school of thought, Becker tackles the problem of the vital lie: man's refusal to acknowledge his own mortality. In doing so, he sheds new light on the nature of humanity and issues a call to life and its living that still resonates more than 30 years after its writing.

Philosophy of a sore loser
Revisado: 08-26-18
It was posted as an "influential". Instead, it's full of declarations and references to psychoanalysis.
The author was perhaps unfortunate in his life but he reduced all human activities as to repulsion of the human body and fear of death. Unfounded and comical analysis of childhood is presented as ultimate truth. Could not pass chapter 2...
