A new low for Tony J Forder
Revisado: 03-10-22
This book is a very dark story written with lots of gratuitous graphic torture scenes. Unfortunately Mr Forder is descending into more extreme and violent stories in both this book and his D I Bliss series. It seems that authors write more and more extreme police cases as their main character evolves, Maybe they feel they need to do that to keep readers coming back for each new title, but I believe they could retain readers better if they write more complicated and compelling stories without sinking into depravity.
The reader of this book has a dull monotone voice with a lisp on his S's that had no tonal destinations between characters making difficult to differentiate them.

Expletive laced
Revisado: 02-18-22
What could have been a reasonable story idea was completely destroyed by the authors insistence on filling every other sentence with expletives. Won't ever read one of his books again !

Can't wait for the next in the series - suspense until the end. Micheal Wood set up set up the ending ready for the next book !
Excellent reader, got the accents correct and the characters were distinguishable from her tone of voice. Hope she performs the next one.

A waste of a credit
Revisado: 11-06-21
If you want to read about an American 'Super Man' I suggest you read the comic version - it is more believable.
This is the story of the 'all American boy' who saves his mother from an abusive father, joins the military and is a hero in Afghanistan, joins the secret service and single handedly repels an attack on the White House and ends up flying a jet over Russia while being chased by MIG's when years ago he had learned to fly in a Piper Cub.

Fantastic Book
Revisado: 09-25-21
Wow! What a fantastic book! A truly great book that completes the story and does it in nail biting fashion. This is the 3rd book in the series that even uses recent actual events like the arrest of Alexei Navalny.
The reader did a great job with lots of different accents for the different characters making it really easy to follow conversations.

Great Book
Revisado: 08-31-21
A great book in the series. The characters are all very believable. This author has NOT fallen into the trap that many police procedure narratives do, that each story has to be more extreme than the last. Most refreshing.

Don't waste you time - Very Disappointing
Revisado: 06-20-21
This is the latest book in a series that started out well. The characters were well defined and realistic and the crimes they solved were plausible. However this author has slipped into the same whirlpool that many crime writers follow - every book is more extreme than the last, the crime is more violent and the characters unrealistically heroic. The initial crime could well have been used for the entire book with the police tracking down the perpetrator and working through all the motives and the relationships between the criminals. Instead we are lead through a series of totally unrealistic horrific crimes with the police not getting back up from other area and the principles expected to pursue the gunman despite being personally involved with the victims.
Despite having enjoyed all the prior books in the series this was a waste of time and money.

This is a page turning thriller with many twists and turns in the plot. The Gamache family continue to entertain and add variety to the story. The technology and material science is beyond realty but does not diminish from the plot. The reader is excellent.
