I can move beyond much misogyny in a historical book with the expectation that it is overcome in the end. Regardless of time period, there is no salvaging a romance if the opening scene involves the man raping the woman’s friend in front of her. Why bother continuing.

There are several instances where a sentence is repeated & at least one where part of a sentence is omitted. Narrator is otherwise good. It's more a matter of poor editing/reviewing.
