Historia
Vivienne Michel, a precocious French Canadian raised in the United Kingdom, feels like a foreigner in every land. With only a supercharged Vespa and a handful of American dollars, she travels down winding roads into the pine forests of the Adirondacks. After stopping at the Dreamy Pines Motor Court and being coerced into caretaking at the vacant motel for the night, Viv opens the door to two armed mobsters and realizes being a woman alone is no easy task. But when a third stranger shows―a confident Englishman with a keen sense for sizing things up―the tables are turned.

It’s different
Revisado: 02-16-25
Not withstanding his other books, this book took a long time to get to the point of being interesting and ended rather too quickly and predictable. On a scale of 0-10, I give it a ‘meh’

She’s the daughter of a powerful Corsican crime boss who thinks Bond's hand in marriage may be just the thing to settle his volatile daughter. But Bond's chances at marital bliss are interrupted by a call from MI6—they finally have a lead on Blofeld.

We have all the time in the world
Revisado: 02-16-25
The book was excellent and the George Lazenby/ Telly Savalas 1969 movie was good too.

Historia
Norah Vincent became an instant media sensation with the publication of Self-Made Man, her take on just how hard it is to be a man, even in a man’s world. Following in the tradition of John Howard Griffin (Black Like Me), Vincent spent a year and a half disguised as her male alter ego, Ned, exploring what men are like when women aren’t around. As Ned, she joined a bowling team, took a high-octane sales job, went on dates with women (and men), visited strip clubs, and even managed to infiltrate a monastery and a men’s therapy group.

I am glad that men have a voice within the feminist movement; albeit, all that men ever want is peace.
Revisado: 07-14-24
I think Norah did a great bit of research to get to a position where she could certainly help be a voice for men. Her efforts are extraordinary within the scope of what she did. I think it is only fair to add that her experience is only a portion of a bigger picture because she was only able to tread within a safe parameter. There was a point in her book where she had to choose between the monastery, the military, or the penal system. I think if she had gone to the other two she would’ve certainly been shocked at what she would come to experience there. Additionally, she was only able to explore men in the US, traveling abroad would’ve been a great addition; but would’ve certainly come a greater cost. At the end of the day- men- men just wish to be heard and be at peace and I wish that women could just forego their own emotions and experience and just listen.

The “scum and villainy” a highlight
- De Stefan Filipovits en 11-10-20
I could barely make it through the stories.
Revisado: 06-09-24
Even though they are meant to be short stories, some of them dragged on for an eternity, especially the stories that had homosexual overtures and characters. It is already well implied that the Star Wars Universe is super rich and diverse based on the various relationships that exist, it does not need to deafening loud to the point it ruins a story arc. Some of the characters deserve back stories to help expand the Star Wars universe; but not everyone deserves to have their own story, especially when it can be encapsulated within a paragraph. I couldn’t even finish the book. Some stories actually detract from the plot in order to make a more political statement and that is very unnecessary to have in a collection of short stories.

It was meh
Revisado: 04-01-23
I thought I would’ve enjoyed this; but parts of the story were very annoying and took away from the performance and reading.
