Love James Taylor but not so much this book

Had higher expectations

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to see "Beautiful - the Carole King story". If it was not the best musical I have ever seen, then it was up at the top. In the lobby they were selling this book. Unfortunately, the book does not live up to the greatness of the musical. The musical was just the beginning portion of her life. I grew up with her music, and the play brought me to tears. Altho Carole does sing a line or two here and there in the book, the quality wasn't there. I was disappointed.

I love Ken Follett

Really enjoy having history interwoven with a fictional story. I've always found history dry, but this I enjoy. I used to love Michener, because he was so talented in the same way. I don't usually care for Oprah's book selections, but I loved Pillars of the Earth and World Without End by Follett. I definitely recommend this new trilogy.

I love a really good, long book. Of course, it always takes a little time to get into it, but then, whalah! The two main characters and their history are slowly revealed. I found the story itself fascinating with its co-existing worlds. I am starting another book by this author, because I enjoyed this so much.

I walk my dogs and listen to audio books. This book more than many others made me anxious to get out and walk. It is futuristic with an interesting setting and characters. It is read by the same gal who did WINTERS BONE. Hope there will be a sequel.

I love all Dan Brown books. This book did get rather grim at one point (so much that I wondered why I was reading it), but the story moved on. The author always combines great fiction with history. I love that. My favorite book is Angels & Demons, but this is a good one.

Poor choice

Did not like this book. I suppose I only finished it because I paid for it. I found no insight into the sub-prime mortgage debacle. The author throws around people's names & company names as if that were enuff. He gives you terms but never defines them. As a realtor I may know a little more about sub-prime mortgages than the average person, but still it was totally unenlightening. This includes Part 2 of the book. It does not get better. I gave it one star only because I could not give it a half star.
