The publishers of this audiobook delivered a well-written and cogent story for people like me who want a big-picture idea about this period. But as I'm paying a whole credit, I wish they would provide this book along with another title of their American history series. Please think about it!

Where does The Last Moriarty rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

For Sherlock Holmes stories, narrators tend to be either bombastic or to gallop through the story as though they are in a race. Instead, Charles Velev gives each character an individual voice and gives Watson a nuanced range of emotions, so it is easy to relax and get completely into the story. I hope Mr. Velev will narrate many more books and stories. Thank you also to the book's audiobook producers who made a high-quality audiobook.

Would you listen to The Complete Sherlock Holmes again? Why?

While this version of Doyle's Sherlock stories offers much, my tension and blood pressure went up and up as I listened, so that I had to find a way to reduce the narration speed. Because iTunes and the Audible Windows player don't offer this ability, I could only listen to this book on my Android smartphone, not through my home wireless headphones. The narrator, Simon Vance, needs to realize that we listen to fiction to relax, not to hear as much as possible in a period of time.

What did you love best about The Fall of the Ottomans?

The book introduces the reader to a wide field of action, telling enough to give a sense of the main participants, big actions, and the major outcomes of the war without becoming bogged down at any one place. If someone wants to dig into those details, they are available from other sources and in other works by this author. Like the author, the narrator Derek Perkins keeps good control of the pace, neither slow or rushed. I look forward to more books by this author and narrator.

What made the experience of listening to The Making of the Atomic Bomb the most enjoyable?

Richard Rhodes made this a saga of three-dimensional people. It ended TOO SOON. I plan to listen to other of Rhodes' books, and I wish that "The Dark Sun" was unabridged also. Please make it so!

What would have made The Quantum Moment better?

I wanted a straightforward book presenting quantum theory. I lost patience with this book that seemed intent on wordiness rather than presenting its topic.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I only got halfway through this book because Campbell repeated reference to nature made me very depressed at knowing how we have degraded and endangered nature. I thought he also wasn't very clear on expressing why we develop mythology, or in referencing common modern stories that illustrate this. I'll look elsewhere for an understanding.

Charming stories, with perfect narration

Would you listen to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms again? Why?

"Charming" isn't a word one would attach to G.R.R.M.'s other books in the Song of Ice and Fire series, but it fits perfectly these tales of the hedge knight Dunk and his skinny little squire, Egg. Harry Lloyd (Viserys Targaryen in the TV GoT series) gives a performance that perfectly suits the subjects, a young knight as notable for his kind heart as his height (almost seven feet) and the bold, outspoken little boy with the bald head. As for G.R.R.M., I rated the story as a four out of five simply because I it ended abruptly and much too soon--but then, G.R.R.M. has some other writing tasks demanding his time, as all of us GoT fans know too well. :-)

What did you like best about this story?

The book had surprises, and a lot of fun interplay between the main characters, as Dunk isn't always the dominant character by any means. G.R.R.M. has made us feel many things in his depiction of this medieval world, but here we laugh much more than his other "Song of Ice and Fire" books. There were delightful moments, and some wrenching ones too. G.R.R.M. doesn't coddle the reader.

What does Harry Lloyd bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Harry Lloyd's performance exactly fits its subjects, and his narration seems effortless, which of means much art is involved. Great job, Harry Lloyd!

What did you like best about The Neil Simon Collection? What did you like least?

I learned how lucky I am to be living in the "Media Age" of 2014 with so much good material at my fingertips. What was considered good stuff in the 1960s and 1970s when I was a kid now seems weak and barely interesting. There are a few of Neil Simon's plays I would listen to again, but I'd be in no hurry. Want good, old comedy? Try Moliere!

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

LA TheaterWorks does a good job casting and directing these radio performances. I just wish the material was better.

Was The Neil Simon Collection worth the listening time?

Sorry, no.

Any additional comments?

Audible could at least have listed the plays in the order they appear in the audiobook. There is no way I could jump around to find my remembered favorites. Helping readers navigate within books is something Audible is VERY POOR at and SHOULD IMPROVE, as I have commented several times already.

If you could sum up Game of Thrones and Philosophy in three words, what would they be?

Painless intro to philosophy

What about Robin Sachs’s performance did you like?

Robin Sachs has a wonderful voice, rich and unstressed, perfectly paced.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

Robb Stark should have studied Machiavelli's "The Prince" before becoming King of the North.

Any additional comments?

Some philosophers discussed: Hobbes, Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Sartre, Nietzsche.
Some concepts discussed: the nature of happiness, moral luck, chivalry, metaphysical fatalism, game theory, just war theory
