actuon and plot twists
Revisado: 10-25-24
I think what really makes this story pop is the narrator. she really makes the characters pop. it's not even a dramatic reading but sometimes it just feels like it. the twists keep you staying. the only draw back is the characters and lines are cooky cut and generic almost void of originality ir personality. but it's kept to a very minimum. not a big complaint. around book 4 the humor picks up and it's well received. I'm having a blast.

waay better then I thought
Revisado: 09-26-24
story starts off like any other generic fantasy story. reference to flemeth, shale, legion of the dead. progressively the book starts to ramp up and impress. 2nd half is Great. the narrator does an ok job. kinda dumbs the book down a bit. but it's not a dramatic reading I guess.

From Genesis to Job, the Hebrew scriptures contain some of the most influential stories in Western civilization. But what do these stories tell us about daily life in ancient Israel? And why do they still speak to us today? In 24 captivating lectures, Professor Chapman introduces you to the stories of the Judeans in exile and grounds them in their historical context, giving you a grand vision of history as presented in the scriptures.

Historia
America is in crisis. Happiness is falling, loneliness and despair are rising, too many schools are riddled by fights and failure, crime is unacceptably high, and the American Dream is out of reach for millions. The problems are visible to us all, but virtually no one is talking about the solution that matters most: Marriage. New research by University of Virginia sociologist Brad Wilcox shows that Americans who get married and have children today are leading happier and more prosperous lives, on average, than men and women who are single and childless.

Historia
It's been over a century since the humans lost the war for Earth. Cities have been reclaimed by nature, and the planet is quiet and empty by day. At night, feral vampires - more beast than man - roam the lands, hungry for blood. The few thousand surviving humans live on a massive airship that circles the Earth, moving with the rotation of the planet so it's always in sunlight.

it really is that good
Revisado: 10-27-23
i wont say characters are memorable but they are VERY relatable. theyre nuanced and find yourself agreeing with everyone at times. Theres waay more twists then i thought there were going to be. they all feel natural. the author really put thought into where he wants the story to go. my jaw dropped several times. having a blast! and once you get to THAT PART the story does not let up.

Crucifixion, the Romans believed, was the worst fate imaginable, a punishment reserved for slaves. How astonishing it was, then, that people should have come to believe that one particular victim of crucifixion - an obscure provincial by the name of Jesus - was to be worshipped as a god. Dominion explores the implications of this shocking conviction as they have reverberated throughout history.

didn't like the authors writing style
Revisado: 09-20-23
i appreciate the authors writing style. telling history in such a dramatic way but so hard to follow. he's factually right. but he switches topic and subject so fast that you don't realize it. he's writing about the positive impact of Christianity on the world and society. but he doesn't talk you he dramatized history and just thinks you'll figure it out. again. not a bad history book just not for me. tom holland is well above most historians.

Historia
The Middle Ages were dubbed the "Dark Ages" almost before they had begun to draw to a close. Ever since then, they have continued to be seen as a time of hardship and oppression, full of popes and crusades. In the second volume of 2,000 Years of Christ's Power, another side of the Middle Ages shines through though: The continual workings of Christ as he built his kingdom through figures such as Thomas a Kempis and John Wycliffe, who lived and struggled during these centuries. This was far from a period of stagnation; rather it was the fire from which the Reformation was kindled.

Important history but not exciting. Fun nonetheles
Revisado: 08-29-23
ill give it a 2nd try. i didn't finish it doesnt mean I didn't like it. he opted for the eastern church history on this retelling 9n some sections. which is great and often ignored. hard for me to stay engaged due to who they're talking about but he also touched on important but boring sections on church history like the iconoclast controversy. not exciting but important. i will listen to again and may change my score.

In this powerful audiobook, pastor, professor, and leading cultural apologist Voddie Baucham explains the sinister worldview behind the social justice movement and how it has quietly spread like a fault system, not only through our culture, but throughout the evangelical church in America. He also details the devastation it is already wreaking - and what we can do to get back on solid ground before it’s too late.

Historia
Drawing from a diverse range of theologians, sociologists, artists, and activists, Confronting Injustice Without Compromising Truth, by Thaddeus Williams, makes the case that we must be discerning if we are to "truly execute justice" as Scripture commands. Not everything called "social justice" today is compatible with a biblical vision of a better world. The Bible offers hopeful and distinctive answers to deep questions of worship, community, salvation, and knowledge that ought to mark a uniquely Christian pursuit of justice.
