Historia
This book is the first volume of a collection of RoadRUNNER travelogues created by James T. Parks, which focus on locations and routes steeped in American history. Jim’s original articles are scattered piecemeal throughout various RoadRUNNER bimonthly issues, spanning more than a decade of time. With that in mind, we have updated information, where feasible, that appeared in the original articles. Listeners who are interested in how America came to be what it is today will find this integrated collection of historically themed adventures of particular interest.

I found this very similar to the features in Roadrunner Magazine. it was very enjoyable and I'm sure to listen to it again; as well as to do more indepth research of routes and destinations before attempting them myself. You don't need to ride a motorcycle to enjoy this short but informative book.

Historia
If anyone could be considered a Russian counterpart to the infamous British double-agent Kim Philby, it was Oleg Gordievsky. The son of two KGB agents and the product of the best Soviet institutions, the savvy, sophisticated Gordievsky grew to see his nation's communism as both criminal and philistine. He took his first posting for Russian intelligence in 1968 and eventually became the Soviet Union's top man in London, but from 1973 on he was secretly working for MI6.

The author has wrapped up the series very nicely in this last book, but leaves an opening for another "chapter" to the series in the future. One can hope.

Historia
The Middle East has long been a region of rival religions, ideologies, nationalisms, and ambitions. All of these conflicts are rooted in the region's political inheritance: the arrangements, unities, and divisions imposed by the Allies after the First World War. Author David Fromkin reveals how and why the Allies drew lines on an empty map that remade the geography and politics of the Middle East. Focusing on the formative years of 1914 to 1922, when all seemed possible, he delivers in this sweeping and magisterial book the definitive account of this defining time.

Historia
White Americans have long been comfortable in the assumption that they are the cultural norm. Now that notion is being challenged, as white people wrestle with what it means to be part of a fast-changing, truly multicultural nation. Facing chronic economic insecurity, a popular culture that reflects the nation's diverse cultural reality, and a future in which they will no longer constitute the majority of the population, and with a black president in the White House, whites are growing anxious.

forget the romance of Sons of Anarchy this take on the One Percenter scene of the 70's is highly believable and the final analysis rings true too. This was my first book by H. Thompson and my only other reference is the movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but for me the reader's performance could not be improved upon.

Historia
Heather McGhee’s specialty is the American economy—and the mystery of why it so often fails the American public. From the financial crisis of 2008 to rising student debt to collapsing public infrastructure, she found a root problem: racism in our politics and policymaking. But not just in the most obvious indignities for people of color. Racism has costs for white people, too. It is the common denominator of our most vexing public problems, the core dysfunction of our democracy and constitutive of the spiritual and moral crises that grip us all.

YOU NEED TO HEAR THIS
Revisado: 04-15-21
Here may be the answer so many of us have been looking for to reunite our country and regain our greatness. It is not the complete solution, but it is a damn good start. The ideas in this book may be difficult to accept depending on your cultural background, but I promise that if you listen with an open mind and an open heart, you will recognize the truth of our situation and what we need to do to correct it. Beautifully written and wonderfully read by the author, it was a true pleasure to listen to. It made me reflect upon my own experiences and past actions and has motivated me to do more.

This is another gem in this series. Easy to understand, each chapter building upon the preceding. It doesn't pretend to have all the answers, but presents the concepts strong and weak points and the logic behind them. The reader is excellent!
