Uplifting story

A little anticlimactic and long plot line. Overall good story and characters. Love the female empowerment theme.

Story good- Audio quality inconsistent
Revisado: 04-10-20
The story is good but the audio quality is inconsistent as is the narrator. If that bugs you a lot, you may want to skip it.
The poor quality fades in and out. When it does the narrator also has a very nasally sound like she has a cold or can’t breathe through her nose.
I found this very irritating and took me out of the story several times. Aside from that, it’s pretty good

Historia
Thriller scribe Sophie Katz is as hard-boiled as a woman who drinks Grande Caramel Brownie Frappuccionos can be. So Sophie knows it's not paranoia, or post-divorce, living-alone-again jitters, when she becomes convinced that a crazed reader is sneaking into her apartment to reenact scenes from her books. The police, however, can't tell a good plot from an unmarked grave.

Don't let the title fool you...
Revisado: 09-21-19
The name is really a misnomer, there is no sex and no double lattes... Maybe 4 murders, 2 frapaccinos and no sex
Pros:
I had no idea who did it or why.
Cons:
The main character is often mean to people she wants to help her and is so mean to one of her "friends" I'm not sure why either of the characters ARE friends. This is actually a deal breaker for me. Every time Sophie and Dina make fun of Maryann in front of her without including her was really infuriating.
The plot twists were super predictable.
There is no chemistry between the "love interest" and the main character.
There isn't much more to say about this book really. I read it in one day while I was sick with the flu, easy ready, kinda boring and a little irritating.

Take it for what it is!
Revisado: 01-03-10
This is a Harlequin romance novel. It's a cheesy romance novel that is all about the relationship. If you like those kind of books, you'll like this one, it's one of the better ones. If you don't like 'em, don't buy the book or write a review that says it's "all about a normal [yawn] relationship." Yeah, it is. And if you like THOSE kind of books, you'll enjoy this one. She's a normal girl with spunk who meets a dream guy. He also happens to be loaded with cash. She gets knocked up (hence the title) and, like all good Harlequin novel's, the author delivers a happy ending. Pure cheesy romance. I love it!

If you can Get Past the Narrator...
Revisado: 10-23-09
... this is another entertaining book by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. The narrator is obviously much older than the character and that is a bit off-putting. Also, the character Lady Emma isn't a bit like any of my in-laws or the hundreds of British citizens I know -- she's more of a bad stereo-type. But that doesn't take away from the super entertaining story.

Compassionate but Dry
Revisado: 09-01-05
AN OPEN HEART is based on the Dalai Lama's 1999 US lectures and is accessible and grounded. The Dalai Lama looks at how to live ethically and with compassion in an often chaotic and negative world. The Dalai Lama's insight, wisdom, and guidelines for 'centered' living and meditation make this interesting, especially as I am not a Buddhist myself. It's perfect for bedside listening as it tends to be a bit dry and the narration is rather monotone as well. However, it makes a nice way to drift off to sleep.

Historia
Best-selling author Lemony Snicket (a.k.a. Daniel Handler) recently spoke with Beth Anderson, Audible's publisher, about A Series of Unfortunate Events. He talked about his experience narrating audiobooks, as well as his participation in the movie. You'll hear about his favorite authors and musicians and learn more about the Baudelaire orphans. Whether you are a die-hard fan or new to this fantastically grim and gripping series, this dire dialogue will make you marvelously miserable.

Interesting interview, but poor quality recording
Revisado: 09-01-05
This interview was interesting. I found the interviewer to be both skilled and personable, which often makes all the difference in an interview. Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket) is just as interesting as you would imagine. However, it sounds as if he is phoning into this interview and the sound quality reflects this; still worth your time.

Revisado: 09-01-05
This interview is a bit dated, as the participants sometimes discuss coming events that have now already passed. However, the interview gives you a good feel for the style of David Maraniss and some interesting information about Al Gore. Not bad for the price. :-)

Revisado: 07-29-05
Strength: I enjoy hearing authors talk about how they write their novels. Stephen King is very informative and interesting as he discusses writing the novel Bag of Bones and audiobooks in general.
Weakness: If you haven't read (or listened) to the novel yet and plan to, there may be spoilers, listener beware! I also have to agree with another reviewer:
YOU MAY ALREADY HAVE THIS INTERVIEW. If you purchased Bag of Bones and have not yet listened to it thoroughly, this interview is at the end of that book.
