if it is, though, this is an epic story on a galactic scale. Space cats, space primates, space whales... Chris has even woven in a plausible explanation for all this crazy. :)

Good initial concept, finally forgetable

Two of my favorite things.

I have been following Scott Sigler since he was releasing his own books for free as serialized podcasts. Scott is an excellent author and his attention to detail in his characters, world building, and story arc is up there with the best of them.
I recently saw an interview of Scott on YouTube where his love of all things Alien was mentioned and how he slips references to the movies in to his books. With the release of Mt Fitzroy I reread his entire Modern Era books (check the Siglerverse wiki) and was thrilled to pick them up now I know that this was indeed the reference. This interview also mentioned this book and that caught my ear.
Aliens:Phalanx is a welcome addition to the franchise. It brings a unique setting with a good twist at the end. Like myself, Scott is anti-spoilers, which makes it hard to write a review. I will say that if you are a fan of Scott's work (or an OJ (you know who you are if you're one)) *or* you are a fan of the Aliens franchise then this is an excellent intro to the other.
Scott has brought all of his his talents to one of my favorite universes and while this is a completely self contained story I can only how there will be more.

Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble. They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct.

I really hope there are more stories from the Bobiverse coming soon. The main story arc ends well but does suggest there could be more stories coming. I don't want this to be the end.

...the selection process for the main characters didn't sit right. It just felt like the characters were meeting for the first time rather than knowing each other very well which I would expect given the nature of the mission.

These are two of my favorite authors and the team up works really well. I rarely have time for audible books due to the number of podcasts I listen to but this was one that I couldn't put down.
