Historia
In the west end of London, an apparently crazed individual is on the loose, breaking into art galleries and private homes to slash valuable paintings of women. Despite Scotland Yard's best efforts, the criminal remains at large and continues on his destructive path. When Joanna and the Watsons are called in to solve the mystery, they soon discover that although the canvases have been slashed, their backings remain pristine, with no cuts or scratches. The criminal, it seems, is no mere vandal - he's searching for something hidden behind the portraits.

It was pretty boring
Revisado: 12-14-23
I have listened to other books in this series and this was the worst. The first half really dragged. There was no character development or anything in the personal lives of the characters that held my interest.

Historia
Hendrik Groen may be old, but he is far from dead and isn't planning to be buried any time soon. Granted, his daily strolls are getting shorter because his legs are no longer willing, and he has to visit his doctor more than he'd like. Technically speaking he is...elderly. But surely there is more to life at his age than weak tea and potted geraniums? Hendrik sets out to write an exposé: a year in the life of his care home in Amsterdam, revealing all its ups and downs.

Pretty dull
Revisado: 08-11-23
I really wanted to like this book. I don't need a lot of action in books I read, but I need some sort of plot. I got to chapter 8 and could not go further. The characters are likable enough, but they don't do anything. There was never a time when I wondered what would happen later in the book except to wonder when the story would start,

Not much of a story
Revisado: 03-21-23
The characters were interesting and well drawn, but the story did not live up to what would be expected from this author.
At the end, there are questions I would have liked answered.
Also, the narrator was very good, but sounded very elderly. The woman in the story is 65 - not in danger of dying of old age.

Historia
There’s been a breakthrough on the campus of Caltech. A discovery. An invention. One so startling and surprisingly sinister that the inventor can’t tell a soul. Precariously poised at the center of the action is Victoria Pixler, a bioengineering student with a tragic past, a passionate quest, and a brilliant mind. After a decade of dedication, she’s just completed her life’s work only to have her dream shattered and her career terminated - by the least likely suspect.

Willow Havens is 10 years old and obsessed with the fear that her mother will die. Her mother, Polly, is a cantankerous, take-no-prisoners Southern woman who lives to chase varmints, drink margaritas, and antagonize the neighbors - and she sticks out like a sore thumb among the young, modern mothers of their small conventional Texas town. Historia
His name, they tell him, is William Monk, and he is a London police detective. But the accident that felled him has left him with only half a life; his memory and his entire past have vanished. As he tries to hide the truth, Monk returns to work and is assigned to investigate the brutal murder of a Crimean War hero and man about town. Which makes Monk’s efforts doubly difficult, since he’s forgotten his professional skills along with everything else.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-10-19
The characters and plot had promise but there was too much repetition about what the characters thought. Also, Monk is supposed to be a great detective but he completely missed obvious things. It was very frustrating!

Worst of the series
Revisado: 04-25-18
I have enjoyed the rest of the series, but this book consisted of mostly repeated questioning of suspects and rehashing. Very little action or danger. Virtually nothing about Sebastian’s family. The historical details and the performance were the best things about this book. You can easily skip this one and not worry that you have missed anything important to future books.
