For the audio version of the book it would be best to leave the Bible references out. It interrupts the flow of the book and can be frustrating to listen to.

This book was well written. Packed full of behind the scenes information on one fascinating character! Elon is definitely a manic, flawed genius. A risk taker in a culture that is filled with people who are lazy and boring!

John, here is your, “Hit!” I enjoyed the book very much. It gave listeners an insight into comedians and how most of them do struggle with depression and the need for affirmation. Also, your life story and how you were raised by a very strict, conservative, Christian family was very familiar to me. We are all, “messy” Christians and I know without your personal faith and relationship with God, it would have been an even harder struggle to get through your crisis.
I’m cheering you on for future happiness and success, but more importantly that you will always strive to do the right thing and that your personal relationship with Jesus will grow stronger each day!

This is not a fun read, but a must read for anyone who is struggling with addiction or has someone in their life struggling with addiction.
I feel sadness for Matthew’s journey into the depths of hell. No one can completely understand addiction unless they themselves have been there. While he is very introspective, I find that he is a bit of a whiner. That’s not an attractive trait to have. What in the world is his beef with Keanu? The stories he told of his famous friends and acquaintances were interesting. The failed relationships were down right sad and pathetic. His relationship with God is the most hopeful part of the book, as well as his desire to help other people. I pray that Matthew will find that lifelong wife, have children and stay sober for himself, his family and friends. Cheering him on from afar!
