Ex-CIA master assassin Court Gentry has always prided himself on his ability to disappear at will, to fly below the radar and exist in the shadows - to survive as the near-mythical Gray Man. But when he takes revenge upon a former employer who betrayed him, he exposes himself to something he’s never had to face before. A killer who is just like him. Code-named Dead Eye, Russell Whitlock is a graduate of the same ultra-secret Autonomous Asset Program that trained and once controlled Gentry.

I’ve read all the previous JR novels published previous to this one, including the novellas. This is one of my favorite. I’m not sure if it was Scott Brick’s narrative style compared to Dick Hill’s. Regardless, I truly enjoyed it.

Once Russia’s richest man, he now resides in splendid exile in London, where he has waged a tireless crusade against the authoritarian kleptocrats who have seized control of the Kremlin. Extremely disappointed
Revisado: 08-05-21
I have listened to every single Gabriel Alon book, and for years have looked forward to the July release, always pre-ordering my listen. This is the first time that I did not enjoy Daniel Silva’s Gabriel Alon. Silva turned one my favorite literary characters into nothing more than a vehicle to support Silva’s political agenda and sentiments. What I find most incomprehensible is why he would believe that his devoted fans would welcome this deep dive into partisan authorship. There were many a point I could have easily stopped listening. So much of the book’s storyline was spent on political ideology, that the narrative actually lacked the depth and intrigue that has been characteristic of Daniel Silva’s, Gabriel Alon series. I’m not sure why I continued listening to the end. I can’t say for certain that I will never listen to another Daniel Silva book again, however I cannot say with certainty, that I will. Time will tell. Perhaps the next year will provide enough time for me to forget the extent of my disappointment and frustration with Daniel Silva “The Cellist”.
