Interesting psychological story
Revisado: 01-19-25
I actually enjoyed all of it. This is a pretty sad story of the little boy and his life. I didn't get it right away, the strength and weaknesses of the other characters (esp men); its usu women portrayed thus. And the emergence of Gustav is a sad turning point. Made me think

Work of fiction
Revisado: 11-13-23
Started off as a horror story, worked its way into a historical part and ended and major fantasy. Three in one, if the author had just picked one would have been a winner. The monster in this story is lacking.

Too busy
Revisado: 03-01-23
I like the Fen's series and enjoy Joy Ellis. But this one had so many plots and character it was noise pollution in my head. I tried to return it but was stuck with it so I continued listening to it. It was a struggle. Keeping everyone in place and all the going on. I already had in mine which group/person was involved. Many of the characters belong to certain mob related or criminal related groups. So lalalala, subject caught, families work on problems, love hurts and love blooms, then ended.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Interesting little story
Revisado: 03-01-23
This was refreshing and lively. I really enjoyed it. Suggested it to several of my reader friends and one non reader who I think would enjoy it. It is either your cup of tea or not, I wasn't sure until I listened to the sample and got hooked on the Octopus discussing his day. Funny.

The series faltered
Revisado: 03-01-23
I have stayed true to the series even watching it on subscription channel which was also enjoyable. However, the hangman left me hanging (yes pun intended). Barely any background and any real investigation it went from victim found to subject arrested.
It usually takes me a couple days or a week depending on my leisure time, but this one was finished in exactly the time listed 1 hour. That is my fault since I did not notice the time length. Don't waste your $$ on it, seems like a filler. If you really want to read then go to your library website and borrow it for free.

I've read some bad stories, but....
Revisado: 02-17-23
This one takes the cake. One of the worst performed, written and told story I have ever read. This one is on me. It was late at night and I selected it without my usual research. I didn't notice that Billy Gardell was one of main character. I didn't like the format either, where each person acts there part like a podcasts. Wish I would have been able to return this book.

Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.

Revisado: 05-01-20
I loved the movie Green Fried Tomatoes but didn't know it was a book. I came across the book later in life and learned that it was Fannie Flagg, So I started reading/listening to anything written by her. It is great break from all the worst things in the world type of books. Nostalgic, funny, lessons, etc.
