Overly dramatic performance
Revisado: 06-19-17
I'm not sure I want to listen to another Scott Brick performance. At least not in this crime genre. I think he's more suited to the gothic story line.

Saving Amy
Revisado: 05-03-17
This became such a tired line for the cliched plot twists that I felt I was in an endurance test of patience. I had wanted to like the story, the characters, and the settings; but could not.

Could not stop listening
Revisado: 04-25-17
This is a terrific series. The characters, plot, dialogue and narrative are paced so the listener can easily follow but complicated enough to keep interest at a high pitch. The narrator brings each character a personality without overdoing the acting. I've bought the next in the series, and looking forward to another great mystery.

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

For a man with one foot in the grave he lives an extraordinary life. I listened to this story feeling all the emotions of all the characters. Beautifully read, beautifully written.

Could not finish
Revisado: 12-18-16
There are very few books I can't get thru. This is one. Overwritten. Lacks mystery or suspense. Terrible true romance writing. Boring characters. Even the narrator can't bring this to my attention with all his stressed reading. Just marked it finished.

I enjoyed the story but thought the narrator was wrong. All the overdone British accents took away from a Scandinavian plot and characters.

Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead. There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack - who has already killed Bod's family…

And then......
Revisado: 04-15-16
The story like the last one jumps from one near death experience to another. Again the characters are too defined. I don't think I'm going for #3. The one thing I really enjoy is the descriptions of the locations and the period setting. I could see the trains and landscape so clearly. That part was very well done.

She was gone. Joe Pickett had good reason to dislike Dallas Cates, even if he was a rodeo champion, and now he has even more: Joe's 18-year-old ward, April, has run off with him. And then comes even worse news: The body of a girl has been found in a ditch along the highway - alive but just barely, the victim of blunt-force trauma.

Historia
In the more shadowy corners of the world, frequented by angels and demons and everything in between, Laytham Ballard is a legend. It's said he raised the dead at the age of 10, stole the Philosopher's Stone in Vegas back in 1999, and survived the bloodsucking kiss of the Mosquito Queen. Wise in the hidden ways of the night, he's also a cynical bastard who stopped thinking of himself as the good guy a long time ago.

Too many unknown subjects for me
Revisado: 03-07-16
All the occult symbols, groups, Latin spells, magicians and strange characters left me backtracking too often. It was more like an investigation for me than a story I was wrapped up in. By the end I was just wanting it over not sad because it was. It did not leave me wanting more.
