I want to state that I received a copy for free before continuing with my review.

The Librarian Gladiator is an entertaining listen. The dark fantasy universe contains mystery, unique ideas, and a surprising turn. The characters are well-written, none of them felt like they were here just to fill a role or niche. I found the Tournament of the Kindred idea refreshing. The fate of what the "ultimate loser" has to suffer is something I have not heard of in other books.

The narrator is good but his audio seems quiet. I had a hard time hearing him while I was at work or driving with moderate levels of noise around me. The book also has sound effects in certain parts. These effects are not overused and added to the immersion/entertainment of the book

Overall I would recommend this book to anyone interested in dark fantasy. It's not Joe Abercrombiei levels of dark/grimdark. But the universe has a dark tone with interesting monsters and characters that will keep your attention. I will most likely pick up the second book, especially after the cliffhanger this book ended on.

Before I start my review, I want to preface that I received my copy for free.

The story is initially slow but gradually picks up pace in this interesting military space adventure. The MC does have a victim complex to some extent. With that being said, I found the characters and universe kept me invested and entertained throughout the entirety of my listening. Mark Boyett did a fantastic job narrating this book.

At the end of the day, I would recommend this book if you enjoy military space sci-fi. The book does not jump right into the action, but it lays the foundation and gives you a taste of what's to come in future installments.

It's a "meh" kind of book. The book had some entertaining parts but the majority was a bit dull. I found that the political talk and woke parts took me out of enjoying the book.

Proxima Legends, Vol 1 is a great book with multiple likable characters that you follow, An interesting story that will keep you entertained when following the main character in the VR game, Proxima, and when he is in the actual world. The main protagonist and those who are around in throughout the book are enjoyable and tend to even each other out. The book also has an interesting idea with the two universes (Proxima and the real world) crossing over into each other, with mysterious circumstances occurring leading to a particular group of Proxima gamers' deaths. The NPCs in the Proxima universe having knowledge of the real world was an interesting idea that added to the character's personalities and mystique of the world. There is romance in the book, but I did not find it getting in the way of my enjoyment of the main story.

Overall if you like the author’s summary and don’t mind some romance or Yakuza business, I encourage you to check this book out! It has a unique story, a fascinating idea when it comes to the universes and other games in this universe crossing over, a fantastic narrator, some references to the other books that the author has written, and a witty mither-ficken goblin named Hiccup!

This is a decent book whose narrators did a fantastic job. All the narrators gave a solid performance and made each character distinguishable. I only had a few instances where a character either seemed to cut off or had their dialogue start too early. The story was entertaining as well, with an interesting twist on the good vs. evil idea and what awaits us in purgatory. I couldn't really get behind the main character. He's not poorly written or portrayed as a horrible guy, but there was just something about him that made me not want to root for him. At times it felt like he was a little too fortunate with the loot/ companions he received. With that being said, I still enjoyed his adventure and the companions/friends he made, Even though I did not root for him, I enjoyed listening to how he & his party solved issues they encountered in and out of the dungeon.

If you are debating on getting the book I'd say give it a shot. Each character sounds unique, the premise is interesting and the LITRPG side of the book is well done.
