Historia
There are whispers about what lurks in Witch Knell—the forest where sinners go to die. The villagers call it The Eating Woods because what's taken is never given back. Only those who've lost their senses would dare to go near it. Or the banished. Maevyth Bronwick knows better than to breach the misty labyrinth of trees, but a tragic turn of events compels her beyond the archway of bones to a boundary no mortal has crossed before. One that cloaks a dark and fantastical world that's as dangerous as it is alluring. It's there that he dwells, the cursed lord of Eidolon.

Fantastic Romantic Fantasy Novel (Trigger Warnings Included for Future Listeners)
Revisado: 04-22-25
This book was insanely good. I didn't want it to end. The narrators were exceptional. The world building was immersion, not overly done, but enough to see the different worlds in your mind. The characters were great. I often get annoyed with MFC, but I really liked her, she was a good mix of feminine, but strong, and didn't whine through the entire book...the MMC was moody, definitely some "Shadow Daddy" vibes, but with a softness underneath it all. The history of both of them was explained well and done well, it was trickled throughout the book, rather than heaped into one chapter and never touched on again.
The secondary/side characters were great too! They played some big roles in this story and had a lot to do with the main storyline.
It's definitely fantasy and romance, perfectly mixed, with the romance and spicy scenes not overtaking the entire storyline. There's nothing I can't stand more than a book involving nothing but bantering, fighting and sex disguised as a "fantasy" book of any kind.
This ends with a huge cliffhanger, with so many loose threads that I can't wait to see wrapped up. I will definitely be reading the sequel.
*** I recommend checking the trigger warnings for this one. There are definitely quite a few sensitive topics discussed and shown including; rape, physical and mental abuse talked about in detail. Sexual assault attempted, post-sexual assault scenes, violent sexual assault described, emotional trauma, post physical trauma described, blood, gore, descriptive horrific body mutilation, death, torture, and disturbing/frightening scenes.***
If you're sensitive to this stuff, proceed with caution. On the other hand, there are many moments of friendship, loyalty, love, connection, laughter, and happy moments. It's not ALL triggers, constantly. Just want to give people a heads up.
The author is a great writer and storyteller, making the happy scenes so great they make you smile and the triggering or scary scenes a bit heart pounding.

Never Underestimate the Strength of a Woman
Revisado: 04-08-25
This was far different than any "Fantasy Romance" I've ever read, and there is absolutely no romance in what I'm hopefully assuming is the first book in a duology, trilogy, series, whatever...
Without laying on the spoilers, this book is basically about following your path as set doen for you by the fates, and the devastation caused by ignoring it.
A nature witch returned home after 2 centuries where her life began, and much of it ended. she finds the Unseelie Fae, after so many years, have completely forgotten their oath to the earth, and it is crying our for the old ways.
Our heroine's fate, in a cruel twist, has bound her to the Savage Prince. He is arrogant, judgemental, entrusting and surround himself with many other high Fae males who are nearly as bad, if not worse. For the Fae have hunted and killed witches their entire lives, believing them all to be traitors who aligned themselves with a dangerous rogue witch who has blinded most of them, thus creating an army of grotesque, mindless soldiers made for one purpose. To kill the Fae.
So when the Savage Prince learns his fated mate is a witch, he captures her, not killing her, but not trusting her, regardless of what she says, what she does, how she helps them, and how she explains that, should the Prince ignore his fate, everyone he loves, along with his home, shall parish.
Rook, the Witch, trusts her fate, allowing it to guide her, to fulfill her prophecy. Even as she is treated terribly, spoken to as if she was nothing more than trash, she continues to help the innocent, break curses and save lives, even that of her ignorant fated mate.
In the end, both Rook and a Fae Princess who knows in her heart hat Rook is different from the army of crazed witches turn this bleak story into one of hope and better things to come, including the healing of a Kingdom whose land has been long forgotten by it's own keepers.
The book is packed with action, intrigue, makes you wonder what could truly bring about change in this Kingdom and let's you slowly discover the depths of each character, and not juat the main characters, but manybof the secondary characters as well. (Even though, at times, you want to shake the Prince and his royal lineage for being so dumb, that the female character nearly let's them all die.
It's well written, with good world building, and the narration is fantastic.
At times, the book can be a bit slow paced, as well as a little monotonous, but you can tell that this first novel is setting the stage for bigger things to come, including a romance that will hopefully bind the Kingdom back to the forgotten ways of the land.
Definitely a book involving "bad ass" first and secondary heroine's you will find yourself cheering for!

Cozy, Cute Fantasy Romance with Loveable Characters
Revisado: 02-24-25
Overall I enjoyed this book, the storyline was interesting enough to keep me listening, and I am going to get listen to the sequel.
The characters were interesting, and the romance between the two a bit unexpected, but also, quite sweet. This was an overall pretty clean romance with very little to almost no spice. Thus, the characters spent time getting to know one another and allowing a relationship to develop over time, which I like. It's definitely slow-burn.
The mystery of the "cursed castle" - along with a plot where deception is rampant on all sides, with both the Monarchy and the rebels both being made out as the "bad guys" with mostly those who are supposed to protect the Kingdom and uphold the law being the most honest, save for some involved in this group they call "The Rangers"
I also enjoyed the mystical creatures in the book. They're unique, interesting and made me smile. or giggle a few times. Especially the "Taybari" (unsure if I spelled that correctly) - but their relationship with the female protagonist is adorable.
The female protagonist is likeable overall. she's realistically sure, yet unsure of herself. She also seems to attract bad luck at every turn. Her original task to set up a meadery with her brother is suddenly turned into the adventure of a lifetime, leaving the girl forced into joining these Rangers, before then being forced to run to attempt to prove her innocence of a false accusation.
It seems like one crazy thing after another happens to her, but she just goes with the flow, alimg with her brother, who is comically logical and intelligent.
The characters were all interesting and diverse. I look forward to seeing where this story goes from here.
I also enjoyed the narrator quite a bit. I think she did a really good job at making distinctive voices for each, without going overboard.
I recommend this read for those who enjoy more simple, sweet and cozy fantasy romances, rather than epic, and indepth fantasy stories.

Unique and Interesting Dark Fantasy
Revisado: 01-13-25
I enjoyed this book overall, although, at times I felt like things moved a bit slow and not much was happening. It did end on a cliffhanger, so I am going to read the next one because it's good enough to find out what becomes of our heroine and the rest of the characters.
Narrator wasn't too bad, but at times she fell a bit flat with her performance.
It's worth a read though!

Interesting Twist on an Old Tale
Revisado: 10-29-24
This was a pretty good book. It was well written, the characters and world building were nicely done. My only issue was the pacing of this book. it was definitely a bit slow, and tended to drag in many areas.
It was a good read though, and tells the tale of King Arthur and Camelot much differently. Though, I know remakes have been very popular as of late, and I've seen quite a few about the Camelot myths and lore, though this is the rirst I've read.
i will definitely start the second book soon.

A Timely, But Not Horrible Beginning To a Series
Revisado: 08-05-24
The beginning of this series was a bit slow at times, but the series overall is a fantastic Epic fantasy mixed with a bit of romance/love triangle that doesn't take away from the main storyline.
if you're looking for Fantasy-Smut - you won't find it here.
This story has amazing world building, a whole cast of interesting side characters, lesser characters and a strong FMC that you can quite literally watch evolve and grow throughout the storyline.
She's not annoying like many FMC - she's open minded, intelligent and logical (for the most part)
Each character is very different and important in different ways, as their story's separate along the way, come together again and separate again, but they're also all part of the main story and different branches of it playing out all over the fictional Kingdom the author created.
I liked the narrator for the most part, at times her high girly voices were a tad annoying, but not enough to be a deal breaker., and you get used to it.
I would very much recommend this series and am in the middle of Book 3 - The Consort. So of you love a lot of action, adventure, traveling to many new places and checking out the indepth world and character building, along with magic and just enough romance (with no spice) to not be annoying, this is a good series for you.

Epic Fantasy Done Right
Revisado: 07-31-24
This book far exceeded my expectations. Some people day that it had a slow start, but I disagree. The beginning was very much about a young girls perseverance and devotion to following her dream. One must remember the cliché, but truly saying, "Traveling is as much about the journey as it is the destination." And in this case, it very much pertains to the life of our main female character.
Every moment in this book leads to a greater purpose. Each a puzzle piece that, at the end, completes a beautiful picture of the story that was told.
Overall, the character development, the bonds between the characters, from being together, to following their own paths, was fleshed out perfectly.
The story was very much action and intrigue, coming of age, following your heart, learning from your mistakes, staying strong and believing in what is good, even when all seems lost.
These books should be adapted into movies. They're so good. From the first pages I knew I was going to love this book.
It's "Sword and Sorcery" at it's very best. You have a strong female lead with unmatched bravery and intelligence that is far beyond her years. A main male character who is level headed, has strong intuition that he allows to guide him through the horrors he faces, as well as the same exquisite bravery his sister (the FMC) exhudes.
I cannot wait to start the next book. This definitely got me out of my reading slump.
I cannot recommend this book enough. It's smart, full of action, fast paced and will absorb you, the reader, deep in, as you walk alongside those who take this righteous, yet perilous journey.

I enjoyed this book overall, but it did drag a bit through the first half or so. I am going to get the trilogy and follow it through until the end though. the writing was very good, character development was also good. Lot's of world building and magic, some action and a bit of rocky romance.

*Light Spoilers*
I really enjoyed this sequel, even more than the original. much more happened in this book, especially having some of the God's involved this time around.
Seeing the characters develop, their stories play out, watching who they all become and how is very interesting.
Vargs story is very interesting, very touching, seeing him form true bonds with the rest of the Blood Sworn and calling them Brother, giving him hope and making him feel like he has a future again was very sweet and I felt for him. Also, the rest of the Blood Sworn were some of my favorite characters. Ina had me laughing when it came to his attachment to the kids they saved and how he snuck them on the boat in barrels. (haha)
Orkas story was great, being a mother myself I understood exactly what she was going through because I think any mother would go to the extent she did to rescue her young son and avenge the husband she loved so much. I just generally liked her character a lot too.
Alvars story was good and I felt she grew up and matured the most, after being betrayed by her lover and losing her leader, then bravely taking his place, even as young as she is and leading a warband of 40 people, trying ro prove she is anything, but the spoiled, pampered daughter of one of the people in charge. You can also see that for as rough as she is, she has a softer side too and can be empathetic and understanding, much more than most. Especially when she allows the Wolf God's daughter to live after she almost gets them all killed and treats the witch they originally kept as a prisoner very fairly.
overall it was a wonderful book and a fantastic story. A wonderful, epic fantasy.
