Historia
One weekend, while Andrew Mason was on a fishing trip, his wife, Brie, vanished without a trace. Most everyone assumed Andy had got away with murder—it’s always the husband, isn’t it?—but the police could never build a strong case against him. For a while, Andy hit rock bottom—he drank too much to numb the pain, was abandoned by all his friends save one, nearly lost his business, and became a pariah in the place he once called home.

Excellent…Again!
Revisado: 10-28-22
Once again Linwood Barclay weaves together an excellent thriller. It is creative and has creative twists and turns without being like a “typical” thriller. Narration is outstanding as well. I am never disappointed by a Linwood Barclay story!

Historia
A long-unsolved mystery gets a grim new break when the bones of Kim Ward are unearthed in Las Cruces, New Mexico, 45 years after her disappearance. Suspicion swiftly falls on her old college boyfriend: none other than retired police chief Kevin Kerney. The chief's hopes of clearing his name look bleak in the face of damning evidence compiled against him by State Police Lieutenant Clayton Istee. Left grasping for clues, with no alibi and not a single witness to speak for him, Kerney and his wife must race to reconstruct long-past events to identify the one person who can clear his name.

Historia
Thomas Kilbride is a map-obsessed schizophrenic so affected that he rarely leaves the self-imposed bastion of his bedroom. But with a computer program called Whirl360.com, he travels the world while never so much as stepping out the door. He pores over and memorizes the streets of the world. He examines every address, as well as the people who are frozen in time on his computer screen. Then he sees something that anyone else might have stumbled upon - but has not - in a street view of downtown New York City: an image in a window. An image that looks like a woman being murdered.

Does it Again
Revisado: 07-19-22
Linwood Barclay does it again. This is the best work yet! He weaves an amazing and engaging tale and doesn’t go over the top to make implausible. I am glad I have returned to his work. I loved the Promise Falls series and how he wove the city into this novel was perfect!

Not what I expected
Revisado: 05-25-21
I was hoping to hear more about Pappy and family and did not expect it to become a biography for the author. I did enjoy what he shared about bourbon and the Van Winkles. I even enjoyed his own familial reflections until they became political. I didn’t need to hear him refer to one side of the political spectrum as “trolls.” I’ll have to read the “rest of the Pappy story” somewhere else.

Historia
Curtis Turner, the most dynamic stock-car racer of all time, wrote the book on living fast and dying young. As the first NASCAR celebrity, his life embodied all that made NASCAR a hit spectator sport: the adrenaline rush of the races; the potential for danger at every turn; and the charismatic, outrageous personality of a winner. He created drama at the racetrack and in his personal life, living the American Dream several times over before he died a violent and mysterious death at the age of 46.

Excellent story of a man before my time
Revisado: 12-05-20
I was 3 years old when Curtis Turner died and I only became a “motor head” in the last five years. I wish I would have been around in the early days of stock car racing. It sounds far more fascinating than what I no longer can watch in NASCAR. His story is absolutely exhilarating and he squeezed every ounce of life he could out of his 46 years. Definitely worth the read and the narrator is perfect!

This will gradually lessen over time as you slowly move forward at your own pace through the stages of grief. Even if it takes a second at a time, then a minute or a day, one day you will notice that there is a bright blue sky, and you will feel less consumed by grief.

Horrible
Revisado: 07-15-19
Yes, I said horrible. I didn't need to go any further than the introduction to know the author knows nothing about deep loss. This book should be removed from the Audible grief collection. She needs to read Megan Devine's "It's Okay You're Not Okay" which is is a complete and correct contrast to this book. For someone to think a forty-four minute "handbook" will provide anyone a path through grief is ridiculous. For the author to make statements such as the "early bad days" as if losing a child suddenly becomes magically easier after the "early bad days" are over over is clearly the voice of inexperience. I know deep loss, I buried my 17 year old son. This type of "literature" is NOT helpful. Please remove from the Audible collection.

I am trying to help my daughter through her panic attacks. Reading this book has helped me to better understand something that I don’t understand and have never experienced. The author’s voice gives me comfort. And his story, expertise, and advice gives me hope that these panic attacks are completely treatable. There is hope for my daughter. Thank you!

Revisado: 06-06-18
I buried my 17 year old son in September of 2014. Megan Devine nails it with spot on firsthand experience of what the “true” journey of grief is like. This book can become a workbook/guide for the grieving and those who want to help the grieving. I have read it six times and every time I find another nugget to help me on this road I did not ask to be on. Peace to all on this road and thank you Megan for your priceless work!
