Waiting for Book 2
Revisado: 09-23-21
I’m not usually a fan of the horror genre, but I know enough to appreciate what Mr. Freeman is doing with the plot points. It's a really fun story and does a good job of setting up his horror movie universe, the Terrorverse. It's funny and quick paced. It took a bit to get into RK Meier's narration, but I was really enjoying it by the end. Some of the vocal effects were great for adding to the feeling of the story.
If you're looking for a loving (but authentic) send up of the horror genre, you'll enjoy this book. (Provided you're okay with dick jokes.)

"What Are You Doing, Vamp Bro?"
Revisado: 10-31-20
Perhaps it's all the Chuck Tingle I read, but I thought this story was going a different way based on the title.
It is a very quick read/ listen. I wanted it to be longer. This is a great origin story for a monster hunter team in a meta horror universe. There is a lot of humor. Fair warning, the characters swear a lot, so if you don't like that this might not be for you.
Bonus points for the apparent hit job on someone who pissed the author off. (The very specific name given to the angry porn customer.) 🤣

Historia
The former Confederate states have continually mythologized the South's defeat to the North, depicting the Civil War as unnecessary, or as a fight over states' Constitutional rights, or as a David v. Goliath struggle in which the North waged "total war" over an underdog South. In The Myth of the Lost Cause, historian Edward Bonekemper deconstructs this multi-faceted myth, revealing the truth about the war that nearly tore the nation apart 150 years ago.

Especially Important in Current Discussions
Revisado: 08-30-17
I picked this book from the many pages on my wishlist due to the recent unrest in Charlottesville. I think it does a great job of exposing many of the myths and fallacies that we all have been taught regarding the Civil War. (Even growing up in CA we were taught a fairly Confederate sympathizing version of the war and I am amazed at how strongly people are sticking to those notions.) Without the myths regarding the Civil War many of our current discussions (monuments, flags, etc.) come into starker relief.
I'd recommend getting the book over the audiobook. The narration is fairly monotone and reminds me of a 9 hour version of the worst online training you've had. His vocal quality is good, it's just lacking inflection that makes for interesting narration.

Historia
The epic and highly anticipated conclusion to the listener-favorite series that had countless Audible listeners (and employees) hooked from the very first Bob - featuring, as always, a flawless performance from the inimitable Ray Porter. Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble. They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct.

A fitting conclusion
Revisado: 08-15-17
I'm hoping to see more from this universe because I love the characters, but if this is all I get I'm satisfied.
Ray Porter continues to knock the ball out of the park as the voice of the Bobs (and everyone else)!

When Does The Next One Come Out?
Revisado: 03-08-17
The narration was among the best I've ever heard. Each character was distinct despite many of them being clones. I honestly believe something would be lost reading instead of hearing this book.
The story was solid. It took a standard scifi trope and flipped it and then addressed those problems in an interesting way. The narrator(s) was fun and quirky in a Ready Player One sort of way.
I realized how much I was enjoying it when I had to pause it to start work and saw it was half done. I immediately got sad because I didn't want it to end. I've already pre-ordered the next one, but it's going to be a long month until it arrives.
