Historia
Cassie Andrews works in a New York City bookshop, shelving books, making coffee for customers, and living an unassuming, ordinary life. Until the day one of her favorite customers—a lonely yet charming old man—dies right in front of her. Cassie is devastated. She always loved his stories, and now she has nothing to remember him by. Nothing but the last book he was reading. But this is no ordinary book… It is the Book of Doors. Inscribed with enigmatic words and mysterious drawings, it promises Cassie that any door is every door. You just need to know how to open them.

The MC
Revisado: 02-11-25
Really hoped the goofy MC would lose 'it' and be killed off. An MC swap midway would have been untraditionally nice. I don't enjoy MCs stumbling into multiple errors. Creative concept.

Historia
As a teenager, Quinn Starkweather builds a computer program that accurately predicts world events. He has created a Nostradamus machine. While Quinn becomes very wealthy, the program predicts the world will be torn apart by financial inequity. The 99.9% will rise up against the billionaires in what is dubbed The Rage Wars. The world stands on the razor’s edge of disaster. With enough warning of the coming apocalypse, Quinn builds an ark in the desert—a self-sufficient domed city he calls Altor.

Surprised
Revisado: 02-06-25
Author's insight to those who subscribe to collectivism is perfect. The descriptions of these characters' lust for power and inevitable decent into soulless evil is perfectly rendered.
Would have loved more character development of the kid, the friend and the AI, more small stories.
Great so far, already downloaded the second book.

Historia
Bill Bryson once again proves himself to be an incomparable companion as he guides us through the human body - how it functions, its remarkable ability to heal itself, and (unfortunately) the ways it can fail. Full of extraordinary facts (your body made a million red blood cells since you started reading this) and irresistible Bryson-esque anecdotes, The Body will lead you to a deeper understanding of the miracle that is life in general and you in particular. As Bill Bryson writes, "We pass our existence within this wobble of flesh and yet take it almost entirely for granted."

Listened to the narrator version trilogy approx. 50 times at typically 2x to 2.25x speeds. This version has too much going on for fast speeds, but I may give it another go at some point..

Historia
In a world scarred by an apocalyptic past, evoking a time both 2,000 years past and 2,000 years into the future, untold thousands gather for a crusade. Among them, two men and two women are ensnared by a mysterious traveler, Anasûrimbor Kellhus - part warrior, part philosopher, part sorcerous, charismatic presence - from lands long thought dead. The Darkness That Comes Before is a history of this great holy war, and like all histories, the survivors write its conclusion.

Historia
None Dare Call It Conspiracy will be a very controversial book. At first, it will receive little publicity, and those whose plans are exposed in it will try to kill it by the silent treatment. For reasons that become obvious as you listen to this book, it will not be reviewed in all the "proper" places or be available on your local book stand. However, there is nothing these people can do to stop a grassroots book distributing system.

Historia
In 1991, the smoldering ruins of Saddam Hussein’s regime testified to America’s unchallenged might. Having defeated one of the world’s largest armies in a matter of days, the United States looked forward to a new century of peace and prosperity. Thirty years later, a ragtag Taliban chased us out of Afghanistan in a humiliating rout. At home, our cities are cesspools of homelessness and crime. The former land of opportunity seems to be in irreversible decline.

Historia
The Bodies of Others is about how we came to the harrowing civilizational crossroads at which we find ourselves—engaged in a war against vast impersonal forces with limitless power over our lives and which threaten the freedoms we have always taken for granted. In her most provocative book yet, Dr. Naomi Wolf shows how these forces—from Big Tech and Big Pharma to the CCP and our oligarchical elites—seized upon two years of COVID-19 panic in sinister new ways, to not only undermine our republic but to fundamentally reorient human relations.

Revisado: 06-24-22
Would prefer a Naomi narration but she's a very busy lady and the gent did a fine job. Enjoy her segments on WarRoom so I picked up her book. I appreciate it wasn't written in a dry technical style, % ratios etc.
It takes courage to let go of this world, but once you do you realize the world is overwhelmingly filled with insane NPCs hiding in plainsight..family, friends, coworkers, sigh. Unfortunately no amount of Light can free them, until they want to be freed. Hopefully they find this, and other sources, when they're ready to be free.
Godspeed Naomi
