Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Read for second time. Loved it just as much
Revisado: 05-04-25
Honestly this has been one of my favorite books to suggest to people but I forgot what it was really about because it had been so long since I read it. So I added it to my reading pile and laughed and cried and loved all over again. This is truly one of the most thought-provoking and well written books that I have ever read.

Historia
In The Small and the Mighty, Sharon McMahon proves that the most remarkable Americans are often ordinary people who didn’t make it into the textbooks. Not the presidents, but the telephone operators. Not the aristocrats, but the schoolteachers. Through meticulous research, she discovers history’s unsung characters and brings their rich, riveting stories to light for the first time.

Best book I’ve read all year
Revisado: 10-22-24
I love Sharon. I’ve been following her online for years but for some reason hesitated on this book for a few months. I can confidently say this is the best book I’ve read all year. Sharon’s well practiced teacher voice comes through not only literally but in her writing and she did such a fantastic job being entertaining while also leaving us with life lessons. After reading this I feel empowered and encouraged to make changes for better, entertained, discouraged about the history these people had to live to create change and also grateful to have learned about such amazing people to look up to. Thank you, Sharon, for sharing. Thank you for clearly putting in the work to show us the true value of each of these people as individuals. Thank ayou for creating such a wonderful space to learn and discuss and learn hard things while never feeling judged. You are a wonderful human being and as I’m confident this isn’t your last book I cannot wait to hear more from you. Governerds forever. 🩷

Historia
Young playwright Melina Green has just written a new work inspired by the life of her Elizabethan ancestor Emilia Bassano. But seeing it performed is unlikely, in a theater world where the playing field isn’t level for women. As Melina wonders if she dares risk failure again, her best friend takes the decision out of her hands and submits the play to a festival under a male pseudonym.

I loved everything about this book. I loved the dual plot lines, loved the history, the characters, the imagery, the voice and the message.

Worth it to make it through to the end
Revisado: 08-30-24
This book grasped me at the beginning. There were parts of it near the middle that I was so confused on why they were relevant and could they get to the point already. And then it all came together. I could not stop reading the last quarter of this book camping, so pleasantly surprised that the story kept going. I can genuinely say that I love this book.

Historia
During the languid days of the Christmas break, a group of 30-something friends from Oxford meets to welcome in the New Year together, a tradition they began as students 10 years ago. For this vacation, they’ve chosen an idyllic and isolated estate in the Scottish Highlands - the perfect place to get away and unwind by themselves. They arrive on December 30, just before a historic blizzard seals the lodge off from the outside world. Two days later, on New Year’s Day, one of them is dead.

As always, Lucy Foley made an incredible mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The last few chapters I couldn’t stop listening to as I HAD to find out who and why. Super highly recommend.

Revisado: 03-07-24
I’m definitely a fan of horror and suspense and I really enjoyed this story. Great amount of suspense and intrigue, the characters were interesting and I felt like the pace of the story was perfect. Definitely along the vein of King-esque storytelling, but definitely stands out as a great writer in his own right. Definitely recommend the read.

Revisado: 04-19-23
I chose this book because the premise sounded good but I was in kind of a book rut. This is a wonderful book. All of the feelings, as I saw other reviewers say. I honestly didn’t know what direction this book was going to take. But I fell in love with the sisters and became engrossed in their stories. Loved the dual perspective. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that sisters can grow up in the same household and have completely different perspectives on their childhoods. Definitely glad I grabbed another book from the same author!

Revisado: 04-07-23
I started this book with a hunch that I knew it was one of two people. But this book kept with the twists and turns and the ending was crazier than I thought. Finished in two days because I couldn’t stop listening. Fantastic read.

Historia
Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: She must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

Took me a few days to recover
Revisado: 04-05-23
I liked this book. I really did. But akin to Verity I was left a little bit speechless afterwards as to what I just read. Hard to believe people like this actually exist. Very well written, Gillian Flynn is a fantastic writer who really pulls you in. Definitely prepare for psychological thriller. Really really great can't-stop-reading psychological thriller.

Many people want to offer love and support to their LGBTQ friends and neighbors, but aren't sure how. Bird’s unique position as a gay Latter-day Saint has given him valuable insight. In this audiobook, he authentically details the blessings and challenges faced by gay members of the church, and provides listeners with the perspective, understanding, and tools they need to more effectively minister to those who identity as LGBTQ.
