Historia
In April 1942, Lale Sokolov, a Slovakian Jew, is forcibly transported to the concentration camps at Auschwitz-Birkenau. When his captors discover that he speaks several languages, he is put to work as a Tätowierer (German for tattooist), tasked with permanently marking his fellow prisoners. Imprisoned for more than two and a half years, Lale witnesses horrific atrocities and barbarism - but also incredible acts of bravery and compassion. Risking his own life, he uses his position to exchange jewels and money from murdered Jews for food to keep his fellow prisoners alive.

Fascinating
Revisado: 11-04-19
It took me three weeks to get up the nerve to listen to this book. I knew it was going to be a horrible story, as it was about the Jews and what the Germans did to them at Auschwitz. However, the telling of the story was fascinating and a love story...and true. Certainly worth the read.

Historia
A mushroom hunting foray turns gruesome when Kate Shugak stumbles across a burnt, decaying corpse amid a grove of morels. Was the deceased the hapless victim of last year's forest fire? Why has no one reported him missing? And why wasn't he wearing any clothes? Absent evidence of foul play, the troopers are inclined to call it death by misadventure; Kate's instincts suggest otherwise, leading her down a path that requires her to confront issues of community, faith, and free will.

Revisado: 10-04-19
I have read or listened to all of Dana Stabenow and am waiting for Book 22 at Christmas. I will probably go back and read them all again. Excellent series, Dana paints a picture with her descriptions of Alaska, Kate and Mutt!

Best book ever
Revisado: 08-08-19
My husband and I listened to this book as we were going to the beach, a long 6 hr. drive. Having Michelle Obama read her own book was both fascinating and delightful. You could hear the emotion in her voice when she spoke about Barack and how much she admired him. Also the love came through when she spoke about the girls and her family life. I would highly recommend this book to any and all Democrats and anyone else who never knew about Obama and what a tireless and relentless president he was. He was always studying and learning about every country the US dealt with and how to make our country a better place to live.

In the tightly knit world of Boston medicine, the Randall family reigns supreme. When heart surgeon J. D. Randall’s teenage daughter dies during a botched abortion, the medical community threatens to explode. Was it malpractice? A violation of the Hippocratic Oath? The natural suspect is Arthur Lee, a brilliant surgeon and known abortionist, who has been carrying out the illegal procedure with the help of pathologist John Berry.

Historia
Two thousand people go missing in Alaska every year. They vanish in the middle of mountain footraces, on fishing boats in the Bering Sea, on small planes in the Bush. Now a geologist known for going walkabout with his rock hammer has disappeared from the Suulutaq Mine in the Park. Was it deliberate? An accident? Foul play? Kate Shugak may be the only person who can find out. But for the fact that Kate, too, is among the missing....

Dana is the best!
Revisado: 08-26-18
Always enjoy Dana Stabenow's books. I have read the entire Kate series once and am rereading them for the second time. I have also read all of the Silk books. If there were 50 Kate books, I would have every one of them. Her descriptions of Alaska, the people, Kate, Mutt, Jim and all of the other characters paint a picture you can see in your mind. Your heart really gets involved with the characters, you root for ever faithful Mutt, you cry with Kate when she loses a love, you rejoice when she again falls in love. Book 20 just about killed all of Dana's readers. We bugged her for Book 21, were Kate and Mutt still alive? Was it over? If so, that was a sorry way to send a series. I know Dana must have been pulling her hair out with all of the emails she got, including mine!

Historia
Grave Sight draws listeners into the intriguing world of Harper Connelly, a woman with a unique gift: she can "see" the deceased and how they died. A teenage girl from a small Ozarks town is missing and feared dead. Hired by local police, Harper locates the girl's body in a nearby forest. But there's more than one corpse in those woods, and the second one raises questions no one wants to ask.
