Warm & cozy.

I was looking for a heartwarming book for the season and this fit the bill. Some of it was predictable but there was some mystery to it and I enjoyed that.

Captivating !

Tracing the past to the present kept me engaged. I also liked the use of historical facts to develop the storyline.

Historia
Nadia Hashimi's literary debut is a searing tale of powerlessness, fate, and the freedom to control one's own fate that combines the cultural flavor and emotional resonance of the works of Khaled Hosseini, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Lisa See. In Kabul, 2007, Rahima and her sisters can only sporadically attend school and can rarely leave the house. Their only hope lies in the ancient custom of bacha posh, which allows young Rahima to dress and be treated as a boy until she is of marriageable age.

Excellent!
Revisado: 12-10-12
A great fantasy read. All of the characters are believable and presented in a story that you can feel yourself being part of the action... of which there is plenty! The story of a young boy (or is he?) who finds himself in a struggle for survival while unknowingly is a pawn for some and the source of redemption for others.
This first in a series is well worth your time and money. Well written, excellent narration and one in which you will find yourself identifying with the characters and their struggles.

The Project - the terraforming of Venus - was begun centuries ago. And generations more will come and go before the planet's surface has been rendered fully habitable and its human settlers, the Cytherians, can finally leave their protective domes. There are those, however, whose patience has grown dangerously thin -- malcontents unwilling to resign themselves to never enjoying the fruits of freedom promised to their descendents.

Just waiting for the movie...
Revisado: 03-30-12
Great closing book to the trilogy. Earthling, Venutians and the Habbers all tied up in intrigue and exploration. Read the whole series folks. Keep in mind that these books were written in the late 1980's. Excellent story, excellent characters and very narrated. Performance editing could have been better but not a major distraction.

Revisado: 03-30-12
This book is the second in the trilogy and it was better than the first. Again, Ms. Sargent keeps you on the edge of wanting to know more. I love reading science fiction and this book did not fail in providing some very thought provoking ideas of how science may assist in meeting the needs of the future. This is a must read for all fans of science fiction.
