This is a collection of the only known episodes to exist from its run on both NBC and CBS radio. Originally called The New Adventures of Philip Marlowe, the private eye series, based on the character and books created by Raymond Chandler, made its debut on the NBC radio network on June 17, 1947, with Van Heflin in the role of Marlowe. The first episode adapted Chandler's short story "Red Wind."

A simpler time. Where you can taste the smoke in the air as you listen. Had to try apologies. I have been enjoying listen to a lot of OTR when working. I wish I could have heard them live, sitting in front of the radio trying to tune it in.
Give these a listen you won't be disappointed

I found the book interesting but not nearly as engaging as I had hoped. It's a bit dry in spots, the reader is good and does a good job distinguishing the characters. The most interesting parts are at the midway point once we get into the red scare part, but even then something is missing. Overall still happy listening, not sure if there's rereading value. IMHO

Mass Effect?

I love the game, it's rich with world building. This book isn't even close, just average. Had the writer went in and delved more into the codex the game has to offer maybe he could have do a better job.

Historia
Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.

This is my second time reading through Snow Crash, from the vivid world that Stephenson has created to the compelling characters I was hooked from page one. The new sci-fi fantasy starts here and it's a great ride

Historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Barbara Tuchman here brought to life again the people and events that led up to World War I. With attention to fascinating detail, and an intense knowledge of her subject and its characters, Ms. Tuchman reveals, for the first time, just how the war started, why, and why it could have been stopped but wasn't. A classic historical survey of a time and a people we all need to know more about, The Guns of August will not be forgotten.

Al Franken reveals the alarming story of how Bush (barely) beat Kerry with his campaign of "fear, smear, and queers", and then claimed a nonexistent mandate; Republicans decided that Terri Schiavo would make "a great political issue"; Conservatives sought to undermine Social Security by using a strategy borrowed from...Vladimir Lenin; and more.

Historia
Finding logical inconsistencies, factual errors, and doublespeak wherever he looks, Al Franken takes on and destroys the myth of liberal bias in the media, hoists the Bush White House on its own rhetorical petard, and punctures the mean-spirited sanctimony of such media darlings as Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly. Timely, provocative, unfailingly honest, and always uproarious, Lies is sure to raise hackles and spark hilarity inside the Beltway and from sea to shining sea.
