Too Short

I loved every part of this book! My only critique is that I wish authors wouldn't force a romantic story between the female and male main characters. Just let them be friends.... that's a thing you know.

Narrator not consistent and too happy ending

Emily's accent is not consistent in this book. This is a personal preference of mine, but I hate how every book feels like they need to have happy endings... someone important could have bitten the dust.

I don't like the whole romance thing

The uncomfortable portion is from Arthur entertaining a little girl and romance between the two. It's uncomfortable. Other than that, the book is amazing and I can't wait for the next one!

OMG

This book was so complex and extremely enjoyable for me. I am a counselor and so it really scratched an itch to look at everyone's perspective on events and how the lack of effective communication ultimately hurts the people around us. It was a slow burner but extremely satisfying to view how different identities shape a person. I wish there was a second book.

Wow (It's me again)

I just finished writing a review for the first book and finished this book. I am so excited about Linden! I can't wait to hear where the next book will carry him. I enjoy listening to his struggle and sadistically, his pain. Bring on the third book!!

I took a gamble with this book. I didn't know what I was getting into. I fell in love with the characters and found myself wanting to listen to it even when I was out of my car (I listen to it on my 45-50 min ride to work.) Tbh I have already listened to the second book and I'm just now writing a review for this one.

Frustrating, but the premise is good

Kids make frustratingly stupid decisions and don't think things through. They are impulsive and I found myself yelling at the characters often. The book is really for teenagers, not so much for adults, but you can still find enjoyment in it. The premise was good, and it kept me listening even when I was rolling my eyes and sighing at the characters. I personally wanted more tragic p elements, but that's just my preference. The ending was forced and Maddy makes such a convenient revelation that I wanted to gag, but it's not like the book ever presented itself as anything more than what it was. This review might sound like I didn't like it, but it was good for what it was and I can't knock a story just based on my personal preferences or from the thought process of an adult when the characters aren't adults. If anyone finds that their preferences are similar, just go into the book aware that you might do something different or check out a different one. Overall, I don't regret listening at all I'd definitely recommend to a teen that loves books like this. As a final note, POSSIBLE TRIGGER WARNING FOR THOSE THAT HAVE BEEN SEXUALLY ABUSED AND/OR CHILDREN OF ALCOHOLIC PARENTS.
